We had the good fortune of connecting with Arianna Marajh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arianna, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Knowing whether to give up or keep going depends solely on how bad you want something. It’s something you become obsessed with. I like to call it “the healthy obsession”. Days would go by that I would just be stuck on my phone (Not on Tik Tok) but researching the best candles, what’s in candles that make them harmful? best wicks?, What candle wax are best for animals?. I grew up with the saying “Rome wasn’t built in one day”. Damn right it was not. Like Rome, Aiiryco is just the name of my business. A name is just a name . The people, the streets, the houses, the food, culture, history, plants, is what makes Rome, Rome… Aiiryco is the name of my healthy obsession. Making it great, starting from nothing and making it into something great from all different aspects to my consumers is something that doesn’t happen overnight. Therefore if I gave up after just Having my name there would be no product. There would be no smell to my candles or wicks to burn or character to my concrete vessels to match consumers styles that would make Aiiryco’s candle, a Sustainable lux Aiiryco candle. Get it? There was of course my bad days. Where I felt like “This is a dumb idea”, or days where I got no sales (Months even). Those days, weeks , and months of not getting any sales I thought to myself if I should give up? Clearly it’s not a good product. I took a step back but I still wanted to make candles and research more ways to make my product better. Went to Bath and Body works smelled there candles, went to local markets asked about questions. Hello Healthy obsession. I read more books and decided that I am not doing all that I can do for my candles. The problem after numerous tests, the months of having no sales, isn’t my product, it’s my marketing. Taking pictures of my product is what I am lacking. Getting my name out there. If it’s something that you want you will always hit a wall and it might feel like it’s time to give up but that’s not what is really happening . Take a step back and see that there is room for growth. Really analyze what you’re doing, look at different perspectives, research more. There is something that you’re missing. There is actually a hole under that wall that I know I can overcome and so can you. Let’s not give up on our ideas we would never know the outcome.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Having to ask everyone that came to my desk “did you use our mobile app today” for banking (some of them not even knowing what a smart phone look like) definitely isn’t what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life. Working for all those years showed me that there is more to life than being behind a desk. I want to be my own boss and run my own Women owed business. Giving back to my community, Helping our planet and animals is what I want to do. My candle craft all started with a risk that I took after leaving my 9-5 job in corporate America. Having no income was something that I have never not had. I thought it was crazy for me to start my business with no income. It was a tough risk to take and I took it. I had to Research the best ways to set up my at home business and make sure that I didn’t waste to much money with my trial and error phase. I had to research, go out there and join groups and ask questions. That way I spent my money I had set aside on the best things to start my Candle business. I learned that sometimes fearing the unknown can keep you from discovering hidden treasures. Aiiryco is a local hand poured luxurious Coco Soy wax in a handcrafted Concrete Vessels with wide varieties of colors to choose from all topped with a wooden wick. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami has tons and tons of place to eat, drink, sleep and do it all over again. First we would stay at the W hotel in Brickell. We would hit up south beach. Get some drinks from the Sugar Factory and maybe catch a show at Mangos. Than head off to my favorite art district Wynwood. Get something to eat from Manta (Ceviche) and Fried Chicken from KYU than head off to Brick and party the night away. The next day if it is a sunday head over too a Makers market get something cute to wear for Brunch at YOLO with unlimited mimosas.
