Meet Ariel Sonny | Entrepreneur, Model & Medical Student

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Sonny and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Trinidad, which is a melting pot of different cultures where we share mutual respect and appreciation for each other. My ancestors came here as indentured laborers from India. They kept their religion and customs alive over the past century which has inspired me to do the same. Therefore, I have been a devoted Hindu all my life. I always felt that God has been guiding me on the right path,

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I read in Harvard and Forbes the plethora of benefits of journaling so I wanted to create journals that would have a positive impact on people’s lives. Although many journals already exist, the differentiating factor is that my journals are tied to Hinduism. On each page, there is an image of a Hindu God because simply viewing that depiction is incredibly powerful. Each journal also has an auspicious Mantra so you are reminded to say it whenever you journal. Presently, there are Lord Krishna and Lord Ganesh journals available. I want each user to feel that they are having a conversation with God when writing. I have personally found that this strategy has helped many of my dreams to manifest.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Trinidad has a rich culture to offer. Everyone loves Carnival but I’d personally suggest that the best time to visit is near Diwali, the Diwali Nagar has amazing food and performances. We should also dine at Jenny’s on the Boulevard, it’s one of the best restaurants. Other must try Trinidadian dishes include doubles, chow and roti. My last suggestions would be visiting the beautiful Temple in the Sea and the 85ft Hanuman Murti.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am profoundly grateful that my mom has supported me and had faith in me throughout my life. She makes me believe that any goal I have is achievable. As a businesswoman herself, she offers valuable insights and encouragement. She tells me that the initial part of entrepreneurship is the most grueling but with diligence and perseverance, success is possible, so don’t ever give up.
