We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Andre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think Will Smith said it best “On the other side of fear is success.” I took a chance on myself when I decided to hop in the beauty industry for several reasons; When you go to school to become a lawyer, Nurse or whatever it is you may want to become. 99% of the time your position is promised to you. Well that’s my thought process with everything in life! My two main ingredients is be willing to take calculated risk and work hard! These rules have applied to my life because I always had to sacrifice something to get to the next level. I haven’t lost anything and obtained something better or bigger.

What should our readers know about your business?
As we all know the beauty industry is huge! I would say what sets me apart is that I’m not really in it for the money. Now don’t get me wrong I started my business so I can leave behind a legacy. But more then that it’s been times more often then not where I do hairstyles for free, gave away hair for free been up till 5 am (True story) doing two heads at once then back up at 11 am to do it again. I really care about how I make the person feel when they leave my chair or purchase a unit a from me.

I’ve learned that business will teach and mold you about the rules of life. You’ll have people there to support but it won’t always be from your love ones, Take all your L’s and turn them into wins! Last but not least move at your own pace. Be okay with re routing and changing! Coming from someone who doesn’t like change I kid you not I won every time I made a change I didn’t want to make.

Pretty Vintage will be known world wide we’re not stopping in the hair industry we’re coming for it all!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Great question! I would consider myself an adventurous person. So my plan would go a little like this! I would stop at Lorna’s Caribbean & American grill located in Miami Gardens. I would recommend my favorite which is the brown stew beef and get one of my signature drink which is a amaretto sour or a lemon drop! Then, we’ll go to the smash house museum where you just get to break random different things, I’m also into flowers so maybe a quick trip to Vizcaya Museum. Go home rest! Then depending on the vibe you may catch us at Bar 1 or you may catch us at the strip club.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow there’s a list of people! First I have to thank God because he gives e the strength, knowledge and Power. Then, my grandmother because she introduced me to people that’s taught me a lot about what I know now. For example, My hairstylist Juju located in North Miami FL on 6 ave. Last but not least my dad & my brother Kat for always believing me and supporting me. The word of encouragement always lit a fire in me.

Special shoutout to Je t’aime momo one of the first modern day hairstylist from Miami that taught me everything I know from constructing a wig to perfecting and install. She did it all free of cost! I’ll forever appreciate her for that.
