Meet Audrey Keliehor | Founder/ Head Instructor of Audswimmers Water Safety and Swim School

We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrey Keliehor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Audrey, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
For years, Florida has led the nation in child drowning deaths, indicating a pressing need for increased access to affordable, enjoyable, and year round swim lessons. At Audswimmers, our mission is to empower children with the skills and knowledge necessary to become confident and safe swimmers. Every child deserves the chance to learn how to swim, and water safety is a fundamental human right. Our commitment to inclusivity and intentionality lies at the core of our swim program. #Firstsport #Selfdefense

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Audswimmers offers a child-centered swim program aimed at promoting water awareness, safety, and swim technique while fostering joy and confidence in aquatic environments. Drawing from my experience as a swim professional, I recognize the importance of seasonal swim lessons in instilling lifelong skills. It’s unrealistic to expect anyone, whether an infant, child, or adult, to master self-defense in less than two weeks. Typically, water safety and swim proficiency are attained through six to eight weeks of consistent lessons. As Audswimmers enters its third year of operation, I’m excited to announce my expansion into new geographical areas including Dania, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, Aventura, and North Miami Beach.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
live near the water, so my perfect local day begins with a stroll down N Surf Road in Hollywood. Take a moment to visit the FREE Marine Environmental Education Center. After exploring the repurposed historic home, you can head straight to the beach for the afternoon. Once you’ve had your fill of beach time, make your way to Riverside Market Cafe for delicious food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere. I can personally vouch for all these spots: they’re family-friendly, enjoyable, and, importantly, affordable.”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I first started Audswimmers, I thrived off of Word of Mouth marketing and that pushed momentum behind my business. But something was really missing; the community aspect. Luckily, because of the world of social media, I became online friends with a fellow South Florida swim coach, @Swimsafelywithsyd. She not only offered me insight into my new career but facilitated my access to a global group of swim instructors. This group has boosted my confidence as a swim coach and small business owner.
