We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Santiago and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barbara, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of conventional advice that I always disagree on is when my  Colleagues tell me  “Hey use photoshop” or “edit your pictures” I don’t like doing that. I love the natural lighting ,I love how you can angle your camera and take a picture that can make a person look a certain way. That’s what I like. I don’t like to modify my photography.  Don’t get me wrong ,I do have clients that want me to edit their pictures a certain way, and I will , gladly. But my preference is all natural.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from other photographers is that I have the advantage of being a former model.  One of the things I am most proud of is that I was fortunate enough to work with , and photograph Antonio Banderas and I am most excited about where my photography journey will lead me next. I am where I am today because of my persistence, not giving up, and never doubting myself.  It wasn’t easy to get where I’m at right now but I made it. The challenges I’ve had to overcome now during the COVID-19 have been very challenging , but I have made it through and now my business is doing better than ever. The lesson I have learned along the way is to never give up and never give up on your dreams always go for your dreams because they do come true.  I want the world to know that I will never stop and I am just going up from here.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So what I would recommend visiting Is Coral Gables and staying at the Biltmore hotel. Then for a night out or dinner I would suggest joe stone crabs then head to South Beach and visit Collins Avenue and check out there Fat Tuesdays for some awesome drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my success to my three beautiful children Yesenia, Kevin and Rose and my husband Henry. Also my amazing family who have always supported me and most importantly God. I love you all thank you for your support.
