We had the good fortune of connecting with bob denison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi bob, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
33% Obligation (3rd Generation). 33% Opportunity (Yachting industry has room to grow). 34% Passion (Nothing beats a day on the water).

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Denison Yachting has roots going back to 1948. That’s a big deal to me. Whenever I make an important decision, its hard for me not to connect the dots back to then. Saying that, we have our eyes on the future. We’re one of the youngest, and most electric companies in yachting. We have a very young team of yacht broker and marketers. We don’t do everything right, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a more digitally-minded company in our industry. This has resulted in a group of employees and yacht brokers that has outsold the traditional firms in our space year-over year. For the last 3 years, no firm has sold ore yachts between 80′-200′ than Denison. It has everything to do with 1948, and also with a team focused on 2048.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend will have to spend time with us on the water. We’d take a boat out in the morning, cruise down the New River on Fort Lauderdale, see the houses, the people and hopefully a few manatee. At some point we’d tie up at a dock, Uber over to Wells Coffee and grab a locally roasted coffee and gluten free donut. We’d wander over to The Boatyard for lunch and eat too much Bimini Bread and fresh fish. Drinks at Southport. And back to the boat where we’d watch the lights of our city dance off he waters of the ICW.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story would be incomplete and not worth retelling if the people with my last name hadn’t come before me. It’s really unfair that guys like me get to stand on the shoulders of giants. My grandparents, Frank + Gertrude, paved the way during some hard times. They built more yachts from 1955-1995 than anyone else in the world. And they started their crazy dream on their honeymoon back in 1948, buying a shipyard nobody else wanted after back-to-back hurricanes here in Fort Lauderdale. My uncles, Skip + Ken are both legends in my eyes. Skip represents everything you’d want in a cool uncle: a thick mustache in 1985, white shoes, and girlfriends that would make any middle schooler blush. What Ken lacks in facial hair, he makes up for in marketing prowess, global superyacht sales, mentorship abilities, and the guy you call when you need help, and nobody else is picking up the phone. My parents, Kit + Ann taught, me all about grace, persistence and treating everyone the same. Whenever I get a compliment for doing the right thing when nobody is looking, it’s thanks to them.
