We had the good fortune of connecting with Bonnie Heatzig and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bonnie, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My end goal is happiness and having this goal permeate through the many facets of my life, especially meaningful friendships, strong family relationships, great health, and a robust business. By the end of my career, I hope to have made my mark in the real estate industry by raising the bar of professional services across the board. Working in the luxury real estate sector is an honor and privilege and those that we serve deserve the highest caliber services.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I am in the incredible position to have built a wonderfully rewarding career selling luxury real estate. I am most proud when women new to the real estate industry approach me and tell me that I am their role model and they hope to follow my lead and achieve a thriving business through integrity and hard work. I love that I am viewed as an inspiration to women in my industry – there is no doubt that they can grow a successful business that exceeds their highest expectations – and all the while, directly reaping the benefits of their own hard work, creativity, and solid work ethic.

Although my business now is based largely on a strong referral network from past clients, it wasn’t always a walk in the park! There were many times that I was working on marketing or researching ways to build my business and it came at the cost of missing time with my family. There were a lot of memories that were never made as I sacrificed to build my business. I am very fortunate to have a family that is very career driven and they all encouraged me in my decision to move into the real estate field and supported the long hours I invested in myself and my business from Day 1.

There are a myriad of lessons that I have learned along my real estate journey. In fact, I continue to learn new lessons every day – even after 20 years in the business! I think one of the most important rules in real estate is to communicate effectively, professionally, and frequently with clients and fellow brokers. Communication is what keeps sellers and buyers interested in your services and what keeps deals going.

I would like others to know that my formula for success is hard work and dedication and being true to your trade and yourself. There is not a special sauce or magic – this is an achievable dream and the path forward to a successful real estate business is open to anyone. There is such abundance in real estate and no one should ever feel the stress of competition because there is more than enough for everyone. Focus on yourself, build a brand that reflects who you are, and take a deep dive into building a business plan that you will take you to the top of your game!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start my weekend with my best friend by taking them on our boat and showing off our beautiful waterways here in the Boca Raton area. We could start off our tour in Lake Boca and pop open a bottle of champagne! After our boat tour, we could hop in our car and head to The Boca Raton, Boca Raton’s premier private club, and enjoy the fabulous world class services at the Beach Club, or some culinary delights in the many restaurants there, fabulous shopping, or even a quick round of golf! If we wanted to venture into the heart of Boca Raton, two of the finest restaurants that we enjoy is Trattoria Romana or La Nouvelle Maison. On a weekend morning, we could always hit the Royal Palm Plaza’s Saturday morning market during the winter season for fresh locally grown vegetables, French pastries, and many more local vendors who have fabulous offerings. My favorite is the stand with homemade mozzarella and tomatoes. It’s just delightful!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is no doubt that I would never be who and where I am in my career without my parents and my husband. First, my parents taught me the importance of inclusion and respect at a very young age and it is and has been the cornerstone of my business model. When I am in the field, I am grateful to those who are working alongside me including my assistants, professional photographers, the valet, security guards, and trusted staff who serve my Sellers at their exclusive residences. In my book, no one is above anyone and spreading kindness and respect throughout my day makes my professional life enjoyable. In addition, the incredible support of my husband at every turn of my life has been paramount to my success. His warm and kind temperament and solid guidance has been instrumental in keeping me on track and moving my business forward.
