We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Gabriela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
From a young age, I developed a strong work ethic, beginning my first job at just 14 years old. This early start not only taught me valuable skills but also sparked my ambition to pursue my goals with determination. As I navigated through various jobs, I realized that, while I enjoyed hard work, I also deeply valued my freedom and the ability to shape my own path.

I started to think about how I could create a career that would allow me to be my own boss while having the flexibility to set my own schedule. The idea of starting my own business became increasingly appealing to me. I wanted a platform where I could channel my creativity and passion while maintaining the independence that was so important to me.

Ultimately, I decided to take the leap and launch my own makeup artist business. This journey has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to build something meaningful while staying aligned with my personal values. I’ve learned so much along the way about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of following your passion. Being a young entrepreneur has been an exciting adventure, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to create a career that truly reflects who I am.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others in my makeup artist career is my genuine passion for creating and making people feel confident and beautiful every day. Each time I have a new face in front of me, I find myself inspired all over again. The projects I am most proud of are definitely the Netflix, HBO, and Hulu series I’ve had the opportunity to work on. Being on set and collaborating with a diverse group of talented individuals has been an incredibly rewarding experience, despite the long hours and challenges that come with it.

Professionally, my journey hasn’t been easy. I worked diligently, spending six months studying and taking numerous free jobs to build my reputation and get my name out there. There were times when I would travel long distances—driving four hours just to work a 12-hour day and then driving back same day. It was all part of gaining that invaluable credit. I’ve faced sleepless nights and exhausting days; sometimes, I’m on a 24-hour run, hopping off flights and heading straight to my next job in a different city.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that achievements don’t happen overnight. Hard work, perseverance, and dedication are essential to reaching your goals. I want the world to know that my brand is all about positivity. It’s about empowering people to feel beautiful and confident while creating inspiring work and a unique vision for everyone to see.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend were visiting, I would love to start the day with a refreshing morning Pilates class to energize us both. Afterwards, we could enjoy a delicious avocado toast paired with an iced matcha latte.

Next, I’d take them to explore some vintage shops in the Design District. Walking around amidst the beautiful greenery for us to catch up and enjoy some fresh air.

Later, we could unwind with happy hour, chatting about updates in our lives and sharing some laughs. Being a big music fan, I’d want to end the night with some good music and dancing, which is always a fun way to wrap up the day!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a special shout-out to my mentor, Marietta Carter Narccise As a celebrated celebrity makeup artist who has been shaping the industry since the 80s and 90s, she has worked on iconic films, including those by Quentin Tarantino, and has had the privilege of being Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson’s personal makeup artist over the years. Marietta has been a tremendous source of inspiration for me, encouraging me to pursue my dreams in the tv and film makeup industry. She taught me that the sky’s the limit and that hard work is key. Her belief in me reinforced that it’s not just about how skilled you are; it’s about showing up and putting in the effort. I am incredibly grateful for her guidance and support as I navigate my own career path.
