We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridget Trainer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bridget, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
By helping women feel good physically, they feel good mentally. And when you feel good about yourself, you have the confidence to attract great things and do amazing things in life.
It’s not uncommon for my clients to go from struggling with dating or their careers to go after the job they dreamed of or attract the relationship they always wanted. It’s magical for me to see the transformation in someone’s life when they use fitness as a foundation.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As an Exercise Therapist, my focus is on balance. Balance both physically and mentally. There is a HUGE mind/body connection that gets overlooked by a lot of fitness professionals. By addressing muscle imbalances, you alleviate aches and pains that distract your mind. In turn, if the mind is stressed, that stress will present itself in the body physically in some way and it can turn into a viscous cycle. I’ve seen this in my own life. And if it weren’t for using exercise as my main tool, even if it was doing something active for just a few minutes a day, I would not have been able to pull myself out of the dark place I was in emotionally. I needed to feel strong in some way and get those endorphins going even when exercising was the last thing I felt like doing.
Just committing to doing 90secs of exercise several times during the day helped me turn my life around. There’s something empowering about being pushed beyond your place of comfort and realizing you did more than you wanted to do. I also started to feel stronger in my body and carry myself with better posture and presenting the world with confidence even when I felt like I didn’t have much within me.
Remember how I said when you feel good, you attract good things into your life? I feel like I attract clients where my personal life experiences can help them conquer their own challenges. And I can help them in that journey by teaching them how to use fitness as the foundation to building a stronger life. Watching every aspect of their lives come together because they feel better and stronger is the most rewarding part of what I do and how I can make a difference in the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m new to Miami from Chicago so I am loving exploring and finding hidden gems. I am a foodie and Miami is starting to become a food scene. Red Rooster is one of my go-to’s. Not only because of the food, but also the vibe. I’m a huge music freak and Red Rooster always has great live music and djs so I get the best of both worlds there. Obviously a Heat game would be in order. It’s not just a great game, but it’s a whole show!
And the Miami Ballet Company is outstanding.
I love walking around Wynwood and taking in all the street art. And on Sundays, R House hosts a really fun dragshow brunch.
But honestly, my absolute favorite thing to do is to sit on a floatie in the pool on my roof and look at the gorgeous Downtown Miami skyline while listening to music. I am up there for hours just being and enjoying the moment.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give most of the credit and success right back to my clients. I guide them, support them daily and am proactive in their fitness programs, but at the end of the day, it is my clients who do the work and make the commitment to themselves.
