We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Ervin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Being a creative makes me happy because I genuinely enjoy developing ideas for others and my own projects. It’s exciting to see the vision of ideas come to life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Several things keep me productive professionally. I’ve interviewed several people in the entertainment industry along with entrepreneurs. I am a self-published author of two books. I am currently working on new material off and on for another book. I have workshops to help guide budding writers in the right direction to achieve their goal with publishing and understanding the legalities that come with it. I also do creative consulting in which I come up with ideas for others to help them bring out another level of creativity and promotion with their brands and events.

It is an awesome achievement to be a self-published author. I’ve learned so much about the ins and outs of putting together an independent project. I am thankful that I continue to step outside of my comfort zone and press forward. Currently, I am looking forward to taking a shift with my endeavors back to journalism with an upcoming podcast. I’m also looking to gain more opportunities with modeling.

I’ve gotten to where I am by trying different things that interest me to see if it is something I want to pursue further. Networking and thinking outside of the box is a key factor. It’s not easy finding your core audience. But, by not giving up and becoming more specific of my focus, it helps me to overcome the challenges.
I’ve learned patience is a must, stepping out of your comfort zone regularly, trying new things to see what works and what doesn’t and continue to gain more specificity in what you want to do. The clearer you become with your vision, the more you can live in purpose.

What I want people to know about me is I’m continuing to evolve as a creative and looking forward to continuing to inspire and encourage others. For my brand, I want people to know that our life experiences and conversations are expressions of our stories. We can reach from it through the art of our words and how we convey them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to the lake fronts, roller skating, the amusement park, some of the locally owned restaurants/bakeries, museums, festivals, farmer’s markets and places to check out good music and any fun events going on during the visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give honor to God through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the gift of creativity and for ordering my steps each day. I would also like to send my gratitude to my family, friends, colleagues and to all those who encourage me along the way. I appreciate each and every one of you. To every single person who has loved me through everything, thank you. Also a special shoutout to those who inspire me and might not even know it! I love you all!
