We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Winiarski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
For the last 10 years at RWU, I always felt that I had a pretty good grasp of the work-life balance. This is one of the reasons I chose to work for Rock With U. It is extremely important that our team has a life outside of the studio. As of recently, my usual work-life balance has shifted quite a bit! My family is newly blessed as we have a 6 month baby boy at home. Learning how to be a new mom, find some ‘me’ time (what’s this?), and still run the day-to-day tasks has been a wild experience — all during a world pandemic to say the least! I am luckily able to work at home which allows me to still feel connected to him during these early months of life!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Even before college, I have always had a passion for events, parties, and creating personal connections. I studied hospitality at Penn State which allowed me to experience all aspects of the field. After graduating, I was hired by Marriott which gave me arguably the best training in hospitality that one could receive. My next choice was to either work for one of the top hotels in the US, or take a risk and choose a start-up to see where it goes. My advice will always be to take the risk. Go with your gut and take the chance. For me, this was the best decision I have made for my family and career. By working for a new company I was given the opportunity to experience every position within, know the backbones of the company inside and out, and have led me to become the Vice President of Sales! Nothing is ever easy, but if you have passion and truly care for your craft, you’ll never “work” a day in your life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a total foodie. My husband jokes that my favorite hobby is going to try out new restaurants! This is very true. I love any place that offers a great ambiance and great cocktails. Live music is a total must, too!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is an easy one. The owners of Rock With U, Ross Bielejeski & Greg Chinnis. They have been the most incredible mentors and leaders one could ask for. While they were just starting the company on their own as young entrepreneurs, they have always seemed to know the ‘best’ next move to make the company better for our team, partners and clients. I’ve truly enjoyed growing my career in the event world and learning alongside them as they have set me up for success to grow with them.
