We had the good fortune of connecting with Callie Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Callie, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because it came natural to me. Growing up, I always expressed myself creatively and dreamed big. The idea of having a career that wasn’t a creative outlet of mine, was a daunting thought I never wanted for myself. I never wanted to limit myself by not doing what I felt I was meant to do, which is content creation. Content creation started as a passion of mine for fun, which turned into a job of mine. Getting paid to do what I love was the goal for me that I had to achieve.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my content creation journey on YouTube in 2013. It started as something fun for me to share with others in all topics I was passionate about such as makeup, fashion, health and wellness, etc. I was recording/editing videos to post every single day because it made me feel so fulfilled. Very quickly, my entire school found my YouTube channel. Once the word was out, the bullying began. I stood out of my entire school like a sore thumb which made middle school turn into one of the most difficult times for me. I would get food thrown at me, my videos played on the projectors in class, made fun of in the hallways, and lost all of the people in my life who I thought were my friends. My classmates would bond over making fun of me. As much as the bullying affected my mental health, the only thing that made me feel better was filming content. As hard as the bullying was I continued to push through because I had my passions to lean on. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything because it made me the person I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit there are so many cool spots. For food, I’d definitely recommend Sexy Fish, Komodo and Novikov because the food is great while giving you a really cool experience. Shopping is a must when in Miami, so we’d definitely go to Lincoln Road shops in Miami Beach, Design District, Brickell City Centre and Merrick Park. 1 Hotel in South Beach is a motivating atmosphere to be in when you have work to get done or are looking to network with people. Physical activity is important and there are fun ways to do it when visiting Miami. I love going on walks/runs in Coconut Grove, Brickell Key or Margaret Pace Park. As for gyms, Anatomy and BOXR Gym are super cool to go to although I’m currently loving Sweat440 classes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I could not have pushed through all of my highs and lows without my family. They have always shown me the utmost support ever since I was a little girl with a big dream. No dream was ever too big in our family. They have provided me with all of the resources needed to allow me to get started. They have given me the confidence to unapologetically be myself. Without their support and guidance, I could not have accomplished everything I have and will continue to in the future.
