We had the good fortune of connecting with Carol Tasker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carol, what do you attribute your success to?
Ah, a great question that gets to the very heart of why I paint. Simply stated, it’s all about love for family and animals which are the most essential thing in my world. I also have a brave heart and refuse to give up which is one of my driving forces.

I don’t think I’ve ever met an artist who picked up a brush for the first time and was an overnight sensation. Like any other profession, success stems from hard work, dedication, determination. experimentation, and sure falling on your face a few times. Were there times I wanted to toss my supplies in the trash and do something else. Well … maybe for a minute or two, but deep down inside, my wise inner voice prompts me to keep going.

My childhood growing up in the Yorkshire village of Keighley, was truly idyllic. At the age of five, we moved to South Africa. My parents both worked long hours and as I was an only child until age 9, I spent much of my time alone.

When I reached adulthood and married an incredible man, I vowed to make showering my family with abundant love a major goal. Daily they live in my life, in my heart, and in my art. The overflowing adoration I possess for my husband, son, and daughter brings me closer to them, especially as they both live so far away from me. My daughter lives in Cape Town, South Africa and my son in London.

In the artistic process, I conjure up sweet memories of my family and they arrive on my canvas in full color. I am filled with love and happy memories and I paint with a happy heart. . I write my love story in brilliant hues, adding happy symbols like hearts and flowers. My paintings are the stories of my life.

I am an intuitive artist, meaning I create my art and signature brand with a ❤️ heart-centered awareness that comes from within. Intuition is like an inner compass that directs my approach to my work.

The uniqueness of my art sets me apart from others because it tells MY story. Each piece I create, layer upon layer, is connected to a memory which translates into joyful emotions filling my canvas with images that conjure up love, peace, and happiness.

As a creative soul, I find freedom in trusting my imagination to guide my hand. I am most proud of having the courage to follow my heart as I stand before my easel. My brand is identifiable by a mixture of bright, bold colors and various symbols like hearts, flowers and animals that reoccur as my love of family, animals and nature bubble to the surface.

My tagline is, “I create dreamscapes for dreamers,” and I categorize them into different series. I doodle in merriment by adding all kinds of symbols like people, animals, hearts and flowers that illicit powerful emotions of happiness in the viewer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thank you for asking this question. I am thrilled to give the nod to two incredible artists who provided education and inspiration that advanced my art career.

After studying with Flora Bowley, a fantastic intuitive artist and author, I experienced a transformation. Gleefully pitching my formal art education training, I took a deep dive into my creative soul. The coursework I did with Flora awakened something within, allowing me the freedom to expand my work into my signature intuitive style and brand.

Coupled with Flora’s help and guidance, another mentor, the Australian artist Tracy Verdugo, was instrumental in developing my unique artistic voice. She taught me the skill of introducing my playful nature to each piece. Excited to glean everything I could from this talented teacher, I traveled to Mexico with Tracy and immersed myself in her 10-day workshop retreat. This unforgettable experience expanded my creative heart and led me to produce my dreamscapes.
