Meet Christian Saldana | Social media dancer and Hospitality major

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Saldana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, why did you pursue a creative career?
My whole life I’ve always loved dancing, and being artistic. I always saw myself doing a lot of creative hobbies. Painting, dancing, cooking and more. When i was in highs school i was part of the dance team and so many more clubs my creative side started developing. As I got older it made me realize is something that I want to do. Right I’m currently working on my bachelors in hospitality and tourism which a career field where you can be artistic self and there is many jobs where you can have fun.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m extremely proud of how I came out of my little shelf. I came from a whole different country (peru) not knowing english, not having friends, and being shy due to not being able to communicate. I knew I had a fire in me but it was very hard for me to break that ice but little by little, I realize that being myself was getting me places. i was my authentic self everyday and that will get you far. I haven’t fully reached my professional career I’m still working on myself but the path hasn’t been easy. From losing my sister at a young age. Being openly gay, there are many hard challenges that come in the way. But it’s all about realizing that life gets better and that you can always get better. It’s all about working hard to get your self where you want to be. Be yourself always, that’s how people will know you and love you. Don’t be someone else because it will not real.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from miami, so there are so many places and things to do. I like to do it all, always start with the beach. We have the best beaches and great weather to enjoy ourself and that is always a peaceful place. Then so many restaurants to go eat at, starting with Peruvian food. Ceviche 105, aromas del peru, dr limon are my favorite so we have time to visit each. My favorite place to go drink is mama tried, ocean one, and anywhere there is happy hour. Night life is always my favorite and I like to do it all, I like to go to places in wynwood like pilos, blackbird, south beach and bust the lgbt places as well like twist. One my favorite things to do when I have family visiting is cooking at place and making a feast, nothing beats of just cooking your favorite meals and enjoying drinks at your house. Fun places to visit is the museums, downtown and miami design district.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out goes out to my mom, she is the one person that regardless of how much hate is out there she will never judge me. My closest friends as well are people who will always tell me to go for it event regardless when I’m in doubt if myself
