We had the good fortune of connecting with Consuelo Bilbao and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Consuelo, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I think it was to be true to myself. I really started thinking about what success meant to me, and from that moment on, everything started to fall into place.

When you know who you are and what you want you focus your energy very easily.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an art director and fashion producer. I’ve been designing and producing photo and video content for brands for nine years, mainly in fashion, beauty, jewelry and beauty. Even though finding my professional path was had in the beginning, once I started doing what I do, everything came very natural to me. I had my degree in audiovisual communications, after that I went to study fashion at Parsons in New York and worked in different jobs related with art, but still couldn’t find a way of putting those 3 passions together.

In 2013 Nadia Ruffener, my business partner asked me to style a photoshoot for her radio column, she started as a fashion journalist, and since that day I knew that was what I wanted to do.

I learned a lot in the past 9 years, and continue learning. I’m always open to explore new ideas, techniques and resources. It’s funny how everything I did before becomes useful in the most unexpected way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places in Miami is definitely the SuperBlue Gallery, I love art and museums, most of my ideas and inspiration come from art. A walk in Southbeach in the morning is a must, I like to walk and take pictures with my cell phone, For drinks and a good chillout time I love going to Wynwood.
I love the Sweet Liberty Bar for drinks and dancing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My business partner Nadia Ruffener and my husband Rodrigo Gigena who always supported my projects.
