We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Hackett-Greene and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corey, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is identity. Over the last couple of years, I’ve learned the importance of knowing, loving, and investing in myself and how that affects my creative delivery. In my experience, one of the greatest challenges as a creator that I had to get over was letting my perception of other people’s opinions dictate what I wanted to express. Most creators don’t talk about the internal battle that we face having to consider analytics, profit, authenticity, and many other factors that influence our creative process. It is quite easy to succumb to what may be appealing to the eye but if it isn’t fulfilling to you, naturally the frequency of you sharing who you are will diminish. It is quite okay not being everyone’s “cup of tea” because those who need exactly who you are will always gravitate to you.
My vulnerability continues to hold me accountable to the man I strive daily to be while simultaneously displaying my flaws. I’ve come to grips with an understanding that my testimony might hold the key that someone else needs to unlock the next part of their journey. That is the beauty of our stories and why no one will ever benefit from an individual being someone that they truly aren’t.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most appreciative of the ability to work with my friends as a content connoisseur. I’ve learned to understand how blessed I am to have them alongside me with this journey. All of them know me, my values, and the objective of me developing my personal brand but even more importantly they bring something unique to the table. Every opportunity that we’ve taken on together has allowed us to develop our bond as friends but also as partners. It has also shifted my definition of success in being that if I am the only one who benefits from an opportunity it limits the potential collective impact.
So if I could tell the world anything about my brand or my story, it would be that I will change this world and that I can’t do it without surrounding myself with like-minded individuals. We will change and control the narrative by documenting the entire process of what we know we are capable of doing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For a week trip, I’d have to start at South Beach. It’s one of my favorite beaches in the U.S. and the atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect it to be. I’d include jet-skiing while there as well because that’s just a vacation necessity. I’ve also found my taste for art increase so I would highly recommend visiting Wynwood Arts District to take in the unique urban art pieces. Also, we can’t forget the food so two of my spots in Brickell are Coyo Taco and American Social. Lastly, being from Philadelphia I’d have to take a friend to see either my Eagles or Sixers take on the Dolphins or Heat. I think this would give anyone a great Miami experience!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without God, I am nothing. I’ve tried to build my life on the foundation of other things but I thank Him for being the only foundation that remains solid. It was in Him that I found my true identity, which allowed me to share who I am with the world. I pray daily that I continue to honor Him with the entirety of my being. I’m forever grateful for my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the rest of my family who continually nourishes me, contributing to becoming the man that I envision. I can’t forget my best friends who have kept me balanced throughout the highs and lows of life with their jokes, honesty, and love. Lastly, without the team of Kevin Stephenson, Ian Richardson, Tyheed Jackson, and Jalen Hutchinson, I would be unable to capture my story and share parts of my life that I hope will be a blessing to those in search of God and His purpose for their life.
Lastly, I thank my mentors and both the Greater Works and King’s Dominion communities for holding me accountable in the area of leadership and stewardship in my development as a God-fearing man. Each one of you continues to be a blessing in my life every single day.
