We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Varellas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, how do you think about risk?

Taking risks can be very intimidating. But I truly believe that taking risks is a huge part of life in every component, From personal to love to business. Life is taking risks.

I think that I have spent the better part of my life taking risks but recently I took a few gambles that have changed everything for me. Going into Covid I came out of a very unhealthy relationship and was not in a great place physically nutritionally and mentally. I used that time being unemployed to really figure out what I wanted to do with my fitness career that I had stumbled on and took the time to figure out what would make me the happiest. I risked a huge investment with a business coach to train me on how to run my business via social media, and then I took a risk and packed up 32 years of my life and 14 years in the fitness industry and moved all alone from New York to Miami. I was starting from scratch at 32 years old.

When I say just these two risks that I have taken over the last three years have not only brought me to a place in my life where I have never been happier, healthier and felt better within myself, but I have been able to develop a business that is blossoming and thriving.

Don’t get me wrong, there have been ups and downs along the way but I truly believe that if you want something in your life a risk is part of the process to get you there.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My business has developed into this community of women where I guide them to prioritize their health using movement, balanced nutrition and mental wellness. I coach these women to learn how to put themselves first in order to feel their best which will intern level up every component in their life. I teach them to love themselves, be patient with themselves, the power of consistency and prioritizing their overall wellness.

I began my fitness journey at 18 years old, why? Because I spent the better part of my childhood and high school years being bullied and made fun of for being overweight. So when I first began, I was teaching group exercise classes as a job through college and to lose weight. It came natural to help and support these women and before I knew it, years were going by, and at this point I have over 30 different certifications and licenses and crazy enough created an online fitness platform. I lost my mother to lung cancer at the age of 23 which was another huge push to promote the importance of health. I had opened up a Fitness facility in New York in memory of her at the age of 24 and closed it three years later. I was also blessed with the opportunity to be an education specialist for a dance fitness program called Bokwa. Needless to say my degrees have been collecting dust, however, I am lucky enough to have found my purpose.

I truly believe that my purpose in this life is to help women prioritize their health using movement and balanced nutrition so that they feel amazing in their own skin. My Signature program TotALL Transform is not just a weight loss program. The weight loss and body composition changes happen in consequence of these women prioritizing their Health. It’s really that simple. I want people to understand that we have one life and one body to honor and we should always feel our best. That what we do now will allow to to live a strong life forever, not just for today. And the only way to age gracefully and grow that internal love is by putting movement, nutrient dense foods and mental clarity as a daily component in our life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

As part of my healthy lifestyle I find it extremely important to live your life, eat delicious food and enjoy!

So the first place I would take my best friend to go eat is Joia Beach. This restaurant is right on the beach and offers the most delicious Mediterranean style dishes and incredible cocktails. Joia Beach is always my go to!

One of my favorite spots to just hang out listen to good music and grab a drink is The Oasis in wynwood. It’s a super young, funky, low key cool spot where I have brought so many of my guests and we just always have the best time.

I enjoy bike riding so I would love to take my best friend on a nice bike hike through Key Biscayne. Gorgeous views and killer workout!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

First and foremost I need to thank my business coach, Anthony Mendez, who has not only educated me on how to run my business but has believed in me and truly supported me every step of the way. There is absolutely no way I would’ve gone as far as I have already without his guidance. And a huge part of this team is Kirsten Rincon, multimedia producer and Bryan Gorrita, financial advisor. This is the dream team.

I am also extremely thankful for my family for supporting me in all of my endeavors and the faith that they hold in me. Especially my father, Angelo Varellas. My father has been a role model to me my entire life as he has been an athlete since he was a child and has always put his health and fitness first. I am a very blessed woman.
