Meet David Christian Hopkin Jr | Music Producer, Mix Engineer, Songwriter, and Background Vocalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Christian Hopkin Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David Christian, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from the city that never sleeps, Gouyave St. john in the island of Grenada, Home of One hundred thousand Jab Jabs. I founded KingzMen Music Group formerly KingzMen Productions (KMP) in 2018 and have been producing music on a regional scale since then with a team of 11 members.
From the young age of 5, I developed a love for music through my involvement in the St. Peter’s RC Church choir.
Since then , I have played multiple instruments such as Drums, Guitar, Steel Pan and Keyboard.
Being able to play these instruments has been very helpful in the production and composition of my music. Additionally, I’m also a songwriter and background vocalist at KingzMen.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets KingzMen apart is that we produce music that fuses sounds from different genres and cultures, into one dynamic sound. Our Most recent release ‘Coronation’ EP ( https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/kingzmen1/coronation-2 ) is a mixture of Latin, R&B Reggae Soca and Tropical House music unlike other productions which are mostly soca given the ongoing carnival season in the Caribbean. Furthermore, our music is not seasonal but can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For anyone wanting to spend a week in Grenada I would recommend visiting during the months of July and August as this is the most festive time of the year.. In the month of July you can attend events such as Traditional Mas in Victoria, Jouvert in July, Fish Friday in Gouyaveand Victoria’s Food Fest in St. Mark.
In the Month of August you can attend a range of carnival events such as Bacchanal Friday Groovy and Power Soca Finals at the national Stadium,. The National Carnival Queen Pageant, The panorama Steel Orchestra competition. The Most authentic Jouvert, Parade of the bands and Monday night Mas a glow street par t.

Outside of these events Grenada has a host of natural attractions such as Anadale water fall,The Bottomless Gand Etang Lake an under water sculpture park and the world renowned Grand Anse Beach.
