We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denise, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was encouraging a healthier life style. Working 12 hour shifts in the hospital, we would always do a luncheon or breakfast to celebrate on my unit. A staff member would be recognized for their birthday or an accomplishment. Or we would celebrate a holiday when most people are off and we couldn’t be at home with our family. I would always wonder what is something healthy I can bring since we would have a lot of carbs and a lot of people would consider dieting? So I started making fruit platters and some special events like nurses week I would even bring the chocolate fountain to go along with the fruits.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What set me apart from others is that I bring healthy and fresh fruits to any events, while focusing on great customer service. I Customize in fruit bouquets, fruit platters, and fruit tables. I am most excited about the ideas I have in mind for my business to grow. I honestly can’t wait to see what’s in store for me. During the pandemic I had a lot of time to focus and gather the information needed to start my business. Was it easy? This is just the beginning. Every business faces challenges. The main thing is to be resilient, stay consistent, instead of focusing on loss, consider what you may gain. Lessons I’ve learned is that success doesn’t happen overnight. As Maya Angelou stated, “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” To be successful takes hard work and dedication. I want people to know that it’s never to late to follow your dreams or have a passion for something you love to do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
No one can’t come to Miami and not enjoy the warm weather on the beach. Miami Beach is where you can also find plenty of restaurants. Some of the best spots we will go grab a bite and a few drinks on the beach are Big Pink, Nikki Beach, and Sugar factory. If your heading near Brickell a nice dinner will be great at Nurs-Et or Truluck. Later, If you like to dance, which I do, we would enjoy the nightlife at Da Cave Lounge in North Miami.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I want to give a shoutout to my God. Everything I have accomplished is through him. Next, I would like to thank my wonderful husband. Thank you for being my #1 supporter in everything that I do. Even when I have no one else to turn to you are right by my side. Thank you for encouraging me and rooting for me every step of the way. I want to thank my family and friends who supports me and encouraged me to turn my fresh fruit platters into a business. Shoutout to Laurie Best she is a phenomenal women. She’s what I call multi-talented. She’s a great hairstylist, baker, meal prep planer and most of all she started her own brand and dance fitness called “Soul Body Lit Fit”.
