We had the good fortune of connecting with Destynee Galloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destynee, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Authenticity matters to me most across all areas of my work. From my social presence, to my small business, and my daily interaction in life- I want to be as transparent and honest as possible. Having some type of social media presence means that I have people who look up to me and keep up with that I’m doing. It’s so easy to make social media your highlight reel but my goal on my platform is to share my life. The good, bad and ugly. We are all human and social media has truly overshadowed that in some aspect and I always try to shed light on my platform. I have always wanted my supporters to have someone they look up to and be inspired by but also be someone they can relate to and turn to for advice. It is so easy to create a “perfect” presence online but that is not real life.

When it comes to my small business I have a very close knit support group. Although my business isn’t huge it is successful because my return customer rate is unheard of. With that being said I value what they think of me as a business owner and I also value how they look at my business. For example, if I am running behind with shipping; I tell them straight up. In order to keep consumer trust it is much easier to be straight forward with them because consumers know that sometimes life happens and things are out of your control.

In my daily life I surround myself with like minded people because they bring out the best in me and that prevails in all areas of my life and work. I love putting myself out there at events, gifting suites and in daily life. I always have wanted people to like me for me. Maybe I’m not for everyone, but that is OKAY! I would rather someone know the real me and decide I’m not for them than me try to pretend I’m something I’m not.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a bold person since birth. I have always had an outlet to express that; whether it was pageants as a baby, being front and center in every dance routine, competing in every talent show, being team captain of my volleyball teams, experimenting with my style or finding a love for photography. Every aspect of my life has brought me to where I am now.

I truly think that’s what sets me apart. I have experienced and lived so much just to be 23 years old. I always said as a kid I wanted to be famous. Well famous isn’t the right word to use now but I knew I was always supposed to inspire others because I felt inspired myself. I had all of this inside of me waiting to come out. I didn’t know what I was meant to do but I knew I wanted to do it all myself. I had to lose myself to find my passion. I hit a wall going into college because I was always involved in so many things. This was the first time I had zero responsibilities other than school and I just did not like the feeling. I started my instagram and somehow found myself creating things I never knew I could. Putting together outfits, going out and taking photos of myself on a tripod, experimenting with editing and just letting my creativity take over. Soon I found myself with this platform where people loved what I was doing. This inspired me to do more. As I found myself diving deeper into my creativity I wanted to do more. As always- so started my shop page selling second had clothes. As my personal brand grew more and more over the years so did my closet. I began re-selling clothes I no longer had use for and as I did I found a love for thrifting. I am blessed that my two passions go hand in hand almost and I cannot wait to see what’s next.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you know me you know I love food, the ocean and having a good time. I would plan a relaxing yet exciting weekend for them incorporating all of my favorite things. As soon as they landed we would need sushi. My favorite sushi spots are Tanuki and Pubbelly. After we got our belly’s full we would get drinks with a nice view. I absolutely love Rosa Sky and Tea Room. If my friend was up for a night out I would have to show her the Miami ropes and take her to Wynwood. Dirty Rabbit is always a vibe. If we were in a major party mood we would have to go to LIV or Eleven. The next morning we would get breakfast at Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar and then head to the beach. After a long beach day we would get some shopping in at the design district followed by some pasta at my favorite hole in the wall spot Ristorante Fratelli Milano.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Hands down my family deserves this shoutout!!

I am beyond blessed to have been brought up in a close knit, supportive family. My parents have supported me in every aspect in life and have encouraged me to chase all of my wildest dreams; even if they were pretty crazy. I have always felt like I can be successful in anything thanks to them. Since I was a little girl they have always taught me I can do absolutely anything I set my mind to. Anything you want is attainable with a lot of passion and hard work.
