We had the good fortune of connecting with Dhardra Blake and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dhardra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To create a niche in the Luxury yachting industry that did not exist.. Great Yachts & Trustworthy crew providing a DAY (or longer now actually! ) out on the Water enjoying all that is to be experienced.. without the hassle of Ownership~
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to say that one job has primarily led to the next in some regards.. through various networking etc. It has been a fun ride in a plethora of different industries.. from working for Mark Messier, to selling Beer, to coordinating events for ESPN, to working in Politics & then finding my way to the Yachting industry, I have definitely met some amazing people along the way & furthermore gained valuable insight into a diverse set of industries! I’ve always been a positive person as well as seeing/capitalizing on opportunities as they arise.. I would not say all has come “easy” but has flowed quite nicely, creating opportunities that fit me & my personality has been fulfilling! A few lessons learned are always try & do the right thing.. We only live once so make it count! 😉 I’d like to share that one can do anything they put their mind to.. Just take the leap & go for it if you might be hesitating.. I did when I created LuxuryDayCharters.com, which will CELEBRATE 10 YEARS in 2021! Whoo Hoo!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being we are in COVID times now.. I would take them on a BOAT trip down the ICW starting in Jupiter and ending at the Ocean Reef Club.. We would stop wherever we felt like it on any given day, weather provided, but some notables are 1000 North, Square Grouper, Guanabanas, Kaluz, Coconuts, Boatyard, Le Tub, Billy’s Stone Crab, Zuma, Casablanca, Garcia’s etc. Mmmmm…
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are quite a few that have helped along the way! From those that believed in me to assist in getting a website up & running to Dr. Eva Ritvo opening her home in Miami when I needed local accommodation in order to service clients in a timely manner (and still to this day for Boat Shows etc!) Fellow friends/mentors/Charter Brokers who have answered various questions as needed, to Yacht owners believing in my Netwotrking/Marketing/Promotional capabilities to represent their respective yachts! The list is endless.. Family & Friends too!
