We had the good fortune of connecting with Drew Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Drew, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Memento mori, which is Latin for “remember that you have to die.” If first came across this idea in Ryan Holidays’ book, Obstacle is the way and is something I always remind myself. While some people might think it is depressing, I have come to find it to be quite the opposite. Remembering that you could die at any moment helps keep you living life to its fullest and staying in the present. More importantly, it reminds me that I have so much that I want to do in life (personal and business), and now is the best time to do it! With the current state of the world, this quote has helped me keep the focus on what is essential in my life. More importantly, it has become a constant reminder to all people that life is short and uncontrollable – no matter how hard we try.
What should our readers know about your business?
My company is a tour operation and more especially a party boat tour company. I love our company because we get to show so many people a great time and give them an enjoyable experience while out on the water. This is something different from my last company, where I was dealing with so many negative people. While things have not been easy, this is has allowed me to overcome any difficulty as we focus on the customer experience as much as possible. Having someone leaving smiling and happy makes me happy myself! From hurricane’s, red tide, and now Covid-19 we have had to deal with many headwinds in our business, but remembering why we do what we do allows us to overcome anything!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Out on the water of course! We will start by going to the sand bar, then head to 15th Street fisheries for lunch, Cruise around the Intercoastal and then go to the Wharf for some drinks!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As mentioned above, the book Obstacle is the Way is has had a tremendous impact on my life!
