We had the good fortune of connecting with Dwight Buckland and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dwight, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create something that inspired and empower people. At the time, I had no idea how I was going to do that, but I knew I was good at speaking. So, one night I was up until about 5 am doing research. I came across this brand call God is Dope. “That was it” They inspired me to start my clothing brand

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
what sets us apart from others, We don’t look to compare ourselves to other individuals or businesses. We keep the focus on our process and what we are building because that keeps us busy enough We are most excited about building an online community that provides value to people. Being able to use our creativity to create original branded apparel that resonates with people that wear them to represents a positive mindset that’s exciting for us How did we get here? We got here by making a lot of sacrifices dedicating our time and energy. Giving up all the distractions, things that did not align with our vision, and going through the early struggles financially, spiritually, and emotionally. I had to go through that process for me to grow and become stronger. It wasn’t easy. One thing I will say about business, know that you are a problem solver. Thinking from a solution-oriented mindset will help your process. Having faith and patients helped me overcome the early challenges. Embracing the challenges as they came helped me gain experience and allowed me to grow The number one lesson for me was patients understanding that there is no rush because often I would rush the process and end up making unnecessary mistakes. Just take your time and be patient in your process I would like the world to know the starting point is the mind. The mind is the most powerful tool we have. You can create anything in your mind and manifest it into reality. We must protect our mind from the distractions

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is a very exciting City with amazing tropical weather all year long. On the first day, we would visit the award-winning Chef Creole restaurant in Little Hati to get some fresh conch Just south of that we would head to the art district Wynwood to check out some creative artwork and local bars such as Wood Tavern. The following day Tuesday would be an action pack fun day with two Jet Skis for an 8-hour rental. On the water, we would visit places like Star Island, Monument Island, the old Key Biscayne ocean stadium, and to finish off the day we would dock up at Bayside Market place to eat some amazing Cuban café food and enjoy the rest of the day. As the sun rises the next morning we would visit a little gem in the Coral Gables district called Venetian Pool which is an 820,000-gallon pool that is fed with spring water from an underground aquifer. Venetian Pool also has natural underground water cave that you can swim, sit and relax in for the day. The following Thursday morning we would go to Stone Hart shooting range and engage in some safety and target practice. With the various weapons from handguns to rifles, you would be taught how to properly use and operate safely. Later that day we would revisit Wynwood at night time to party, eat and drink at Coyo Taco for a Jamaican Dancehall party called Wayup Thursdays. Now that the weekend has arrived, every Friday I usually go Quad riding which I consider one of the best stress relievers. My guest would have an extraordinary time having a full hands-on experience with nature. The Redlands trails have beautiful farmlands with animals everywhere running wild. The thrill you get while on a fast bike and one on one with nature is truly the main reason why I make this a weekly ritual, I usually end the day at a local Mexican restaurant off Krome Ave called Tariacuri. For the final two days of my guest trip, we would ultimately have to stay in The Florida Keys at Hawks Cay Resort. From there we would enjoy activities such as snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, scooter riding, and to finish the trip with a bang Hawks Cay is the only resort in the mainland United States that offers dolphin viewing on-site and a variety of interactive programs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Someone that played a big part in helping to get the brand to where it is today is my business partner Robert Walter, he’s super encouraging, understanding, and we both understand the vision. Another person who has inspired, motivated, and undeniably have been a major support of me and Man With A Vision brand is Jo Rodriguez of VeganishJ (¡veganishj) She is a beautiful soul and amazing Vegan Chef. As mention before, God is Dope. They are an inspiring brand that’s leading the way and paying it forward. My mom and dad for supporting and encouraging me to keep going. just knowing that they believe in my vision is enough for me
