We had the good fortune of connecting with Eddie Acevedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eddie, how do you think about risk?
There’s a simple yet profound “calculation” that I put into practice every time risk is a factor. I ask myself “does the risk out weigh the reward & if the worst possible outcome were to occur would it in anyway devastate myself, my family or the ones I love?” If the answer is no then I proceed with digging deeper, flipping over every stone to do my best to understand what’s ahead of me. I think of it like blazing a new trail where very few have traveled. One must be prepared. I also believe that history has left bread crumbs along the way to give us a better understanding of what risk is, how to spot it & how to overcome it. If you pay attention enough nothing profound was ever created without some sort of risk being involved. I used to worry & get stressed out about risk all the time but eventually I began to understand what risk really is. It’s kind of like F.E.A.R. “False Evidence Appearing Real.” Risk can be reduced heavily with the proper research & time. I’ve found that those most impacted by the negative outcomes of risks have done so because of lack of preparation. Sure we can’t predict the future but we can do our best to plan for as many outcomes as possible both positive & negative. In my life I’ve also been more willing to take calculated risks. Some say I have a higher risk tolerance, perhaps that’s true. Sure there have been times that risk hit me pretty hard but if you want to truly understand what your calling is in life & what you’re fully capable of, you have to fail fast & fail often. Lastly, you have to learn from both your failures & successes. This mantra has proven well so far in my journey of life.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
“Come with me & you’ll be in a world of pure imagination.” ~ Willy Wonka Flynn’s was birthed from an idea that sparked in my mind when I was a young child. It all started when my dad handed me the first quarter & showed me the beauty of Galaga in our town’s local laundry mat. I knew one day I wanted to preserve & share the love & appreciation for this amazing machines. We’re keepers of the past at Flynn’s. All the while keeping our gaze on the future. At Flynn’s we’re also infatuated about caring for & growing our Flynn’s Family. It’s about community at Flynn’s. We want to be a space for all. As we all know the world could use more places like this. We want to share joy, happiness & love to all. I’m most of proud of our community at Flynn’s. I’m proud that these amazing Flynn’s family member’s dare to be themselves. They inspire me on a daily basis & if we can facilitate a way to grow that creativeness then we’re all about that. We dare to dream & dream HUGE! I believe if your dream doesn’t scare you then you’re not dreaming big enough. My story in the business world is a bit different. I actually taught Middle & High School history for 6 years after receiving my BA from FIU & MA from Norwich University in Military History. I left teaching to become a full-time Realtor I later went on to establish a Real Estate brokerage, PRO Realty LLC, which is still up & running. While being a Realtor a good friend & I created AccuTour, INC which is a end to end digital media company for Realtors, Business brokers & Yacht brokers. Then back in Dec 2018 my friend, Will & I we’re remodeling a home I was selling for a customer of mine & we started to laydown the foundation of what Flynn’s would become. We executed our lease in Jun 2019 & opened our doors Dec 7 2019. I still am involved in Real Estate & AccuTour while pushing Flynn’s forward every day with Will. I’ve started a handful of other businesses during those years & many have failed but in business I recommend to fail fast & fail often because the more you fail the faster you figure out what doesn’t work. I don’t have it all figured out but I do my best to learn every day. Was any of this easy, heck no! but was it worth it? You better believe it. I’ve overcome the challenges by never giving up. As Commander Taggart said in Galaxy Quest “Never Give Up, Never Surrender.” Simple yet so profound. The primary lesson I’ve learned along the way is to believe in yourself even when others don’t & constantly be learning & evolving. You’ll have to sacrifice many things along the way but end definitely justifies the means. The path on this journey will be lonely at time but totally worth it. I’d like the world to know that Flynn’s will always do our best to bring as much happiness, love & joy into the world. We will always look for ways to do good & we will never stop. We believe loving & being there for others is the key to everything. Go forth my friends & do likewise.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout God, my wife, my family, my friends, the Flynn’s Family, my teachers & to all the books, podcasts, videos & lectures I’ve been exposed to over the last 36 years of being on this planet. I firmly believe that what we put into our mind & who we surround ourselves with has a monstrously huge impact on how we evolve & grow. .
