We had the good fortune of connecting with ELSA VICTORIOS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ELSA, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I thought of opening an art school to teach and educate the culture of art to children and adults so that they know the importance of art in our lives. I am an artist and I took art classes from 6 years until I started studying Fine Arts at the National University of Colombia

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I always found obstacles to get my artistic work forward. sometimes people in my family and some friends discouraged me, telling me that being an artist was a very difficult profession to make a living from art, they also told me that I would not achieve it, because I am a woman artist. But I never gave up.!! After I finished my university studies, I tried harder to do a very different job that defined myself with my own style, the years have passed and I keep trying to reinvent myself. My current painting is abstract surrealist and expressionist and talks about life and the different paths and experiences that we as individuals have to face in order to keep on keeping balanced and moving forward. So I created symbolisms that would represent a journey of life and my expectations. This is how I captured bicycles, which represented the balance in our minds to overcome the adversity that we were going through, I also included the ladders that are sometimes bridges that remind us of the different stages of life and we have to move forward. My paintings are in some museums in Asia, Europe and America. I have won several awards, recognitions and honors for my artistic work, style, philosophy and message of life that it represents. Among the awards I have won, my most recent award has been in Korea, where I was the winner among 134 artists from the world of the Award of Excellence at the 5th International Art Festival 2019. “Freedom and Peace”, in Haegeumgang Theme Museum, in Geoje -Si. Korea. This year I was honored to be a member of the jury at the 6th International Art Festival 2020 again at Haegeumgang Theme Museum. I am very grateful to my artistic work. Thanks to my work I have met people from the world and I have traveled to various countries representing my country Colombia and the USA. I have dual nationality and life in art has given me many opportunities to connect with people from all over the world and art lovers. I am honored! .I have my gallery, where I exhibit my artistic work and works of other local and international artists. I also have my art studio where we teach art classes for children and adults in Fort Lauderdale. Victorios Art Gallery is the name

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well ! I live and work in the Fort Lauderdale area. First of all, to my friends who come to visit me I mention how beautiful Fort Lauderdale is and that it is also known as the Venice of America, we will take a tour in the water taxis to navigate the canals and see the prestigious and beautiful mansions We can anchor in the different restaurants to savor the different varieties of food, Italian, Greek, Mediterranean, Mexican, we can eat all kinds of food. And then I would take them to Las Olas and walk along the boulevard. I would also take them to Naples to get to know the sea of the Gulf of Mexico a little and see the dolphins playing in the sea. Then I would leave Miami to take them to see the South Florida area. And we would walk between galleries and museums !! What time gives us !!!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
During my career of art studies. I give credit first of all to my mother who paid me for art classes since I was a child. Then I grew up and new teachers always came into my life. My teachers saw that I was talented and they encouraged and supported me to be a good artist. My teachers gave me confidence so that I would believe in myself and that I would have an awareness and the culture of art. Art is for life, artists never retire and do their jobs until the end of their lives. I was very fortunate to have had great teachers. They also taught me to look at art with respect and discipline. Also in college my teachers asked me to help them as an art assistant for my classmates.
