We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Landers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Since starting ‘How’d She Do That?’ during quarantine we have shifted from it being a hobby to a business that is blossoming every week. I began hoping that we would be able to make some kind of income from the podcast but have had to build listenership to have the ability to bring on sponsors and highlight brands all around the world.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I began How’d She Do That? Podcast in 2020 to distract from the world as we knew it and share the stories of women I have always admired. Only recently do I feel confident calling it a business as we have seen an incredible amount of growth in our short two years of weekly episodes. We host sponsorships each week and also have month supporters.
Every week brings and excitment as we introduce or reintroduce guests to our wonderful listeners! Our guest list is curated with our listeners interests in mind. The hardest thing about growing the podcast has been being patient. We are growing organically which is really not the norm online anymore.
HSDT is here to stay! I can’t wait to see where it takes us!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have a full Malibu Guide on howdshedothatpodcast.com. This week I had a girlfriend visit and we went to Taverna Tony’s for lunch at The Malibu Country Mart. Always divine!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My listeners who encourage me every week to keep going!
