Meet Florencia Gonzalez Tizon | Tattoo artist- Fine line and watercolor specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Florencia Gonzalez Tizon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Florencia, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue an artistic and creative career because it’s always felt like the most natural way for me to express myself and connect with others. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been drawn to drawing, painting, and creating things with my hands. Over time, I realized that art wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way of seeing the world, telling stories, and evoking emotions. Choosing this path allows me to constantly evolve, challenge myself, and bring something meaningful to people’s lives through my work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is rooted in storytelling, emotion, and dedication.
I started tattooing about 17 years ago in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at a time when it wasn’t easy for a young mom to break into the industry. My mentor was my brother-in-law, and although he didn’t think I’d be able to manage the demands of tattooing while raising my daughter, I was determined. I insisted, practiced nonstop, and with the support of my family, I pushed through the challenges and earned my place as an apprentice.
Eventually, my hard work paid off and I started working at one of the most respected studios in Argentina. There, I kept growing, attended conventions, and found my own voice as an artist. I became especially passionate about watercolor and sketch styles, with a strong focus on emotion, softness, and detail.
My watercolor work caught the attention of Iris Tattoo, a newer studio at the time that was already gaining recognition for their innovative techniques. They invited me to join their team, and after several years, I was offered the opportunity to move to Miami and become Head Tattoo Artist at their location there. I’ve been in Miami for over three years now, leading projects, creating events, and helping build a space where creativity and collaboration are always flowing.
What sets me apart is not just the style of my tattoos, but the emotional connection I create with each piece. My clients’ stories mean everything to me — whether it’s a tribute to a loved one, a symbol of strength, or something deeply personal. I aim to make every tattoo feel like a shared creation, something gentle, intentional, and lasting.
It wasn’t an easy road, but every challenge made me stronger, more grateful, and more in love with what I do. My biggest lesson? Keep showing up, trust your instincts, and never let anyone else define your limits. What I want people to know about my brand and my story is that I’m here because I love art, people, and the beautiful things we can create together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting me in Miami for a week, I’d plan a mix of art, beach, food, and nature, which in my opinion, this combo is what makes this place so special.
We would explore some of the beautiful natural spots around Miami. I think people forget how wild and peaceful this place can be. One of my favorites is Oleta River State Park, which is amazing for kayaking through the mangroves, and is right there in the middle of the city.
Also, the Everglades National Park is a must. Whether it’s an airboat ride or just walking the Anhinga Trail, it’s a total change of scenery.
I’d take them to all the spots that make Miami feel like a creative hub. The Wynwood Walls, a stop at Iris Tattoo (this is a must! I’d love to show them where I work and the amazing team)
The Pérez Art Museum (PAMM) is one of my favorite places for contemporary art with beautiful architecture and views of the water.
And honestly, just walking around the Design District or Little Havana gives you art and culture at every corner.
Miami is also packed with great food ! It’s so hard to choose! I’d take them to a mix of my favorite local spots: for breakfast, Enriqueta’s or Morgan’s. Although my argentinian roots pretty often fancy some Buenos Aires Bakery.
For a casual lunch, I love Suviche or Poke House.
Maman is a place I love for a sweet treat and coffee for an afternoon snack.
For dinner, Luna Pasta e Dolci, Meze for mediterranean or Uptown 66 for a more casual spot.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Along my journey, there are definitely a few people and groups who deserve recognition.
My clients, first of all, as they trust me with their stories and give my art real purpose.
Iris Tattoo has been a huge part of my growth; it’s where I’ve evolved not just as an artist but as a professional.
My colleagues constantly inspire me, we’re a community of creative minds that really pushes each other.
And of course, my family has been my foundation from the very beginning, supporting me through every phase, especially in choosing such a unique and creative path.
