We had the good fortune of connecting with Foreign Frio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Foreign, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I don’t think about risk too much because if you don’t risk you won’t receive any rewards. If you fail that’s ok to me that’s the best way to learn! I always say I turn my L’s into lessons and you gotta believe in yourself in order for other’s to believe in you. Nothing worth it ever comes easy. So for that being said it won’t happen over night but it’s not a race it’s a marathon for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my art and the way i use it to express myself.What I’ve been thru, how im feeling and what i have seen thru the years.I’m mostly proud of just putting my head down and getting straight to work a lot of others i know didn’t take that risk and still haven’t but now i can say with owning my own record label that’s distributed by EQ which is owned by Jay-z who is one of my biggest influences growing up. This is only the beginning to a great success story. Was it easy? Not at all but i definitely thank god for giving me that strength to keep going and the blessings to still be here and to be able to move forward. One thing valuable i learned along the way is life is what you make it. Even when things don’t work out the way planned just keep going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Most likely take them with me to the studio where i create the music. Then I’d go to my uncle’s restaurant where he cooks up Italian cuisine sip vino and enjoy some great food. Can’t forget to pull up on the family at cookie’s dispensary and get some bud for us to smoke and vibe out after.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
