Meet Fredric Lean

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fredric Lean and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fredric, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I’ve never seen risk as a threat—it’s more like a calling. Every major turning point in my life has required me to step into uncertainty. I once read a book that said fear often points to the very edge where growth begins—and that always stayed with me.
That said, I don’t take reckless risks. In the end, I believe taking risks is the price of transformation. And if you want to create something truly novel—something that moves people—you have to be willing to bet on the unknown.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Lina Cerrone Gallery was built on one core belief: art should move you. We curate powerful, emotionally charged work from international artists who aren’t chasing trends—they’re creating connection.
What sets us apart is our ability to tell stories through art—stories that speak to collectors on a personal level and linger long after. We’ve developed strong collaborations with respected groups like Bel Air Fine Art and Markowicz Fine Art, and we’re currently in conversation with international partners to expand our reach. These relationships allow us to stay proudly independent while offering broader visibility to the artists we represent.
Getting here wasn’t easy. We launched with no safety net, in a new city, during uncertain times. But we stayed true to our values—authenticity, courage, and emotional storytelling—and that’s what continues to drive our growth.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. My journey wouldn’t be what it is without the love and support of my family. They’ve been my foundation, giving me the strength to take risks and keep going.
I’m especially grateful to my parents, my Italian family and a heartfelt thanks goes to my mother, Lina. She’s also the co-founder of the gallery. Her decision to leave behind a successful business in France to follow this dream with me in Miami is a gesture of love and courage I’ll carry with me forever.
I’m also incredibly thankful to the artists, collectors, and mentors who believed in the vision before it fully took shape. And to the great storytellers—past and present—whose work reminded me that art isn’t just about beauty… it’s about truth, healing, and transformation.
And perhaps most unexpectedly, I owe something to those who rejected me—the ones who said “no,” who closed the door, or ridiculed the idea. Their resistance gave me strength, clarity, and ultimately… direction.
