We had the good fortune of connecting with Gerald Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gerald, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting Nova Sound was how do I turn my passion into a paycheck. I was fortunate to find an industry that I enjoy working in so work never feels like work, even when doing things business-related that I do not particularly enjoy.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The area of art and entertainment that my business focuses on is high-fidelity audio assets. We have published over 3000 royalty-free sounds and music compositions available on our website. Building our catalog took skill and time. The skill sets that we need to learn on our journey to achieving our goals are just as important as the goal itself because it prepares us for what is ahead. With that being said, it takes time to learn these skills and we grow to better understand our path as we reach milestones in our career. It was not easy and the key to overcoming the challenges is consistency. Making a plan and sticking to it even when the obstacles appear is key.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When someone comes to visit the area I like to show them a range of places and how diverse South Florida truly is. Starting in Broward and making our way down, the Hollywood Beach area has been developing. Hollywood has attractions like Water Taxi and restaurants with food from an array of cultures. Wynwood is a great area to get content. Whether you are capturing your vacation experience or creating something for your brand or business, the Art District is very appealing. Shots Bar Miami has been a staple in the area providing entertainment to visitors and patrons of the business for years.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to say that mentorship is one of the most important things that has contributed to my success. A business can fail for so many reasons but a great way to protect your investment is to connect with someone who has walked a similar path and learned from their experience. Be coachable and apply what you learn. Return that support and love by mentoring the individuals who follow behind you.
