We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina-Marie Bethel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gina-Marie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Throughout my career, I’ve recognized the importance of calculated risk-taking in achieving both personal and professional growth. There have been many instances where I stepped out of my comfort zone, taking on challenging projects or pursuing opportunities that seemed ambitious at the time.
These experiences have been instrumental in expanding my skill set, building resilience, and fostering a mindset of continuous learning.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most excited when any website I design goes live. Im always nervous before the point of launch because I can be quite the perfectionist sometimes. But knowing my client is pleased with the work and now the world can get a view of the executed vision is what excites me the most.
Has it been easy, certainly not. Your dealing with a platform that changes very often and often times encounter clients that does not exactly have an idea of a look or feel of the webpage but just know they want a site. This is where you must grab the reigns and guide effectively to meet the needs of the client.
In the not so recent past, I would have encountered issues that would prevent the launch of a site but it is now my job to provide the best solutions to present to client to make it to the next step of launching without wasting time and money.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend would get a complete cultural experience out of her visit as I am the Arts, Wine and History sort of woman. We would visit a few of my favorite Art Galleries around the island (The Current, Sixty 2 Sixty Art Gallery) to soak in the works of local artists.
Im also quite the foodie so we would start West at Dino’s Gourmet Conch Salad for a fresh Conch Salad for a starter and end up in Eastern Nassau at The Pink Octopus at Palm Cay which has an eclectic menu of Bahamian Fusion. There are tons of food spots to stop along the way for other authentic Bahamian foods to be tried.
Leisure fun outside of the art galleries would be a quick signature cocktail at Bon Vivants located in Sandyport as well as the Monkey Bar located in Baha Mar.
Visiting another island is not out of the question either as i love the islands of Abaco, Exuma and Freeport as a quick get away from Nassau.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely credit my mentor, the late Sir. Charles Carter who at the peak of my career encouraged me to explore various avenues, be confident and use my voice and platform as much as possible. Under his training I developed skilled and interests I never dreamt possible for an introverted person like myself.
The Rotary Club of Nassau that has kept me surrounded by like minded persons from various sectors in the Industry. My organization fuels my philanthropic need to assist those in need in my country and other island throughout The Bahamas.
My Family, the backbone of my support system; My Mother Juania Kim, My Grand Father Daswell Bevans Sr, My Uncles Ricardo Williamson, Paul Bevans, and Rochielle Bevans, My Partner Tristan Knowles.
