We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanni Sairras and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giovanni, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be about impact and transformation—about how I helped people believe in their second chance and turn that belief into action. I want people to remember that I didn’t just talk about change—I built systems, programs, and opportunities that made change possible, especially for those society counted out. Whether it was a returning citizen starting their first business, a father reuniting with his child, or a young person choosing purpose over prison—I want my name to be tied to that kind of redemption. That’s what I want to be remembered for.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is rooted in purpose and lived experience. I’m the founder and executive director of RE Entry One Inc., a nonprofit that provides comprehensive reentry support services to justice-impacted individuals—everything from employment training and housing navigation to financial literacy, mentorship, and courtroom advocacy. I also run Primoracle Consulting Services, where I advise private prison operators, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs on reentry program development, credit restoration, and business growth strategies. What sets me apart is that I’ve lived the life—17 years behind the wall. I know the barriers, but more importantly, I know the blueprint to overcome them.

It hasn’t been easy. Starting from nothing, rebuilding your life with a record and limited resources, pushing past doubt, rejection, and even betrayal—it tests you. But I made a decision that I wasn’t just going to survive, I was going to build something that created pathways for others to thrive too. I leaned into faith, stayed consistent, and built genuine relationships with people who believed in second chances. That’s how I got here.

What I’m most proud of is that our programs are changing lives. We’ve seen people go from incarceration to entrepreneurship, from probation to prosperity. We’ve helped fathers reunite with their children, and individuals with nothing but hope walk into jobs, housing, and stability. And we did it without millions in funding—we did it with heart, strategy, and community.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know, it’s that this isn’t just business for me—it’s personal. RE Entry One is a movement. It’s about rewriting narratives, breaking cycles, and proving that people are more than their pasts. My story is proof that transformation is possible—and my brand is the blueprint for it

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Miami for a week, I’d give them the full cultural experience—beyond the beaches and nightlife.

First stop: the mainland. That’s where the real flavor is. We’d dive into the heart of Miami’s cultural melting pot, where Caribbean influence runs deep. I’m talking Cuban arroz con pollo, Jamaican oxtail so tender it falls off the bone, and Haitian griot with pikliz that’ll light your soul up. And if that’s not enough, we’d hit some of the city’s best soul food spots—places where the mac and cheese hugs you back.

Day 1: Little Havana for food, cigars, and live salsa music at Ball & Chain.

Day 2: A deep dive into Liberty City and Overtown’s Black history—lunch at Jackson Soul Food, and a visit to The Historic Lyric Theater.

Day 3: Wynwood Walls for street art and creative energy—followed by dinner at Chef Creole.

Day 4: A day trip to the Keys for seafood, clear waters, and resetting the mind.

Day 5: South Beach for the classic experience—sun, sand, and rooftop dining at Serena.

Day 6: A community service day—helping out at one of our events or feeding the block. That’s part of the experience too.

Day 7: Wind down with some live jazz or spoken word—maybe at The Miami Improv or a local open mic, letting that real Miami soul speak through the art.

To me, what makes Miami truly exciting isn’t just the places—it’s the people. The hustlers, the creatives, the food vendors on the corner, the aunties in the kitchen, the activists doing the work. That’s the Miami I’d want to show them—the one that doesn’t always make the tourist brochures, but leaves a lasting impression on your spirit. This is the true and authentic 305 experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely. First and foremost, I want to dedicate this shoutout to the people who supported me while I was behind the wall— my mother, sisters and brothers. Without their support I would not have been the strong and successful person that I am today. Their letters, visits, and words of encouragement meant more than I can ever express. They reminded me I still had value when the system tried to strip it away. I also want to recognize the few true change makers in the nonprofit space who show up every day, doing the hard work, often thankless work to serve those society forgets—many of them underpaid, overlooked, but still pushing forward. And of course, I want to give love and respect to my team—those who believed in me, trusted my vision, and helped turn it into a movement. Their commitment to transforming the reentry landscape and delivering real, wraparound support to our returning citizen community is the backbone of everything we do.
