We had the good fortune of connecting with Giselle Colon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giselle, what do you attribute your success to?
The key to my success as an event and wedding planner has been really listening to my clients and understanding what they want, not just on a surface level but on an emotional level, too. Every couple or event is unique, and my goal is to bring their vision to life in a way that feels true to them. I think people trust me because I put my heart into every detail and make sure their day feels special, not just another event on the calendar. I’m also always learning and adapting to new trends, which keeps things fresh and exciting, but at the end of the day, it’s all about making my clients happy and giving them an experience they’ll cherish forever.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been in the event and wedding planning industry for over 15 years, and it’s been an incredible journey. I actually started in Puerto Rico without really thinking of it as a business at first. Back then, hiring a wedding planner was considered a luxury, something only a few people did. But over time, couples started to realize that they couldn’t ask their mom or aunt to handle everything on such a special day. They wanted to truly enjoy the moment without worrying about the logistics. That’s where I came in, and now, having a planner is more of a necessity.

What sets my business apart is the personal connection I build with each client. I pride myself on really listening to their vision and creating a day that feels like them—not just a cookie-cutter event. I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me to handle every detail so they can relax and savor the experience.

It definitely wasn’t easy getting to where I am today. When I started, there weren’t many resources, especially in Puerto Rico, so I had to learn a lot on the go. I faced challenges like balancing the creative side with running the business and learning how to market myself in a way that felt authentic. I overcame these by staying adaptable and always putting my clients first. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success comes from being genuine and passionate—when you put your heart into your work, people notice.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that we’re not just planning events—we’re creating moments and memories that people will cherish forever. My journey has been all about passion, dedication, and growth, and I’m excited for what the future holds.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take her to Wynwood, I love the vibe and the spots they have their, eat and drink in different places,

Another day we can go to the keys.

I’ll take her to South Beach as well, and walk along Lincoln Road.

Another day we can go to the Perez Museum or Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science and to the Superblue Miami which is very fun.

I’ll take her to Joe’s Stone Crab which has the best crabs in town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, 3 people are very important and I’m extremely grateful. my mother who believed on this idea to taking the certification together just for fun and then it turned to a business. My husband who pushed me to make the decision to start my own company and my sister in law (Ana) who is an Event Planner as well and gave me the opportunity to start working with her, here in Miami.
