Meet Giselle Spasojevic | In-Home Newborn Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Giselle Spasojevic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giselle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When my daughter was born 17 years ago, I took her to a mall photography studio for baby photos. They pulled out a dusty black cloth, placed her on it, and quickly snapped a few pictures. The whole thing felt impersonal and rushed and I left me feeling guilty as a mom for even putting my tiny baby through that. That moment stuck with me. I started my business to give families something better: a warm, personalized experience. I travel to my clients and bring the entire studio setup to their home, offering the most convenient and comfortable newborn photography experience in the Miami area.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is the care and patience I bring to every session. I truly take my time with each family, and that gentle, unhurried approach is something parents consistently mention after working with me. I have endless patience for my tiny newborn clients, and I believe that kind of calm presence makes all the difference in the final photos.
I got to where I am today through constant learning and a genuine passion for improving my craft. I’ve stayed up to date with photography trends and techniques, always striving to offer something fresh and meaningful to my clients. But the journey hasn’t been easy. I first started my business back in 2010 while living in Virginia. After moving to Miami and working at an ad agency, I reignited my photography business just before the pandemic. That was a challenging time for many, but being an in-home newborn photographer actually allowed me to continue working. Families really appreciated the convenience and safety of having me come to them.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that loving photography and running a photography *business* are two different things. The creative side is my joy, it’s truly a labor of love, but the business side requires just as much effort and resilience. I’m still growing, and I’m not yet where I want to be, but every session brings me closer.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about my story, it’s that this isn’t just a job for me. It’s personal. I care deeply about giving families a beautiful, meaningful experience and timeless memories they’ll treasure forever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, we’d definitely keep it chill and take advantage of all the beautiful, outdoor things Miami and South Florida have to offer without breaking the bank. I’m all about nature and low-key fun, so here’s what our week would look like:
Day 1: We’d start with a beach day, of course. Maybe grab some snacks and head to South Pointe Park or Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. Both have beautiful views, and it’s the perfect way to unwind and feel like you’re on vacation without doing much.
Day 2: We’d visit the Redlands for a little adventure and to check out the local farms and fruit stands. Definitely grab a few milkshakes to enjoy, mamey is my favorite. There are also beautiful nurseries and low-key spots to explore down there.
Day 3: Pack a cooler and head down to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo for kayaking. This is something we do as a family quite frequently. It’s such a peaceful place to be on the water and feel connected to nature.
Day 4: Walk around Wynwood to see the murals and maybe grab a bite from a food truck or a casual café. You can soak in all the art and culture just by strolling around.
Day 5: Explore Little Havana and take in the vibes. It’s full of energy and flavor, and you don’t have to spend much to enjoy it.
Day 6: Head to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden or take a walk through Matheson Hammock Park. Both are gorgeous and feel like hidden gems if you love plants and peaceful scenery.
Day 7: Enjoy the more modern side of Miami with a walk around Brickell, maybe do a little shopping.
I’m past my clubbing days and Miami has so much more to offer so my friends would get to enjoy the more natural and laid-back side of Miami.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My kids deserve the biggest credit. They’ve been my inspiration from the very beginning and the best little models I could’ve asked for. I also have so much gratitude for my family. My dad built the very first newborn bed I ever used, and my mom lovingly made tiny outfits for my sessions. My husband has always supported my ideas, helping me bring new props and creative concepts to life. Their love and support have been woven into every part of my journey.
