We had the good fortune of connecting with Glend Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Glend, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I believe the single most important decision I ever made that contributed to my success was learning to isolate myself and focus solely on me. I was extremely popular growing up, had hundreds of friends and would be there to fix their problems. I eventually became so obsessed with fixing their life that I didn’t even focus on mine. 2022 was the start of my isolation and I’ll never look back. That isolation truly gave me the necessary shift of energy, I poured into my cup and my cup only. Since I was no longer useful to many “friends”, they all started disappearing one after the other. Luckily, my true friends stayed and that’s all that matters.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Omg, it was not easy! Lol. For starters, I had no college degree so it’s hard being accredited by many people. Originally, I wanted to build websites and months later, I realized I’m amazing at consulting. It was not easy and there were many sleepless nights! Nights I had to spend researching or acquiring clients. I helped business’ with their business credit and the owners with their personal credit. Glend & Associates doesn’t just stop there, I am your own one man shop. I can get you funded, fix your website, organize your finances, create content, design logos and so much more. I am studying accounting right now and I plan on going to Law School and becoming a lawyer that specializes in FCRA laws.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okok! So let’s say my bestfriend gets here thursday night right?
Friday morning, we’re def going to a cuban bakery to get some fire breakfast. Then we’ll run some errands, get our nails done, go to target, IKEA, Homegoods etc. I would def take her to go out to eat with my family and I’d say Ciboney for friday dinner.
Saturday, we’re going out to the beach, we’ll go to Hollywood beach since it’s not that crowded lol and parking is easier. We’ll have ice cream, tan, get a fruity drink and leave around 6. We’d start getting ready to go out, I’ll ask her what’s her vibe if she wants to run into people from high school (wynwood) and if she doesn’t (las olas).
We’re gonna uber so we can both get trashed and get back to apartment around 4 am.
Sunday, we’ll def do brunch at copper blues to spice things up and after let’s hit patio haha.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If there would be a person of group of people that I’d dedicate my success to it would be my sister Annie Ruiz and her family. In 2016, I was living on the street. Annie’s family took me in, helped me get a job, helped me learn how to drive, helped buy my first car, helped me save enough money to get my own apartment. Her family treated like their own. I never felt out of place or like I didn’t belong. Her friendship saved my life. I am who I am because of Annie Ruiz and I will never stop telling people. I will never forget what her and her family has done for me. I am eternally grateful and that’s why I grind so hard to be successful, so that they’re proud of me. They’re the reason I help people who are in need.
