We had the good fortune of connecting with Hailey Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hailey, what do you attribute your success to?
I would say the most important factors behind the success of HaileyPancakes are authenticity and quality. I try to be authentic in everything I do for my business, from communicating with clients about their orders to creating flavors I think my audience will love. With that same mindset, I shoot for high quality, not only in my ingredients and the products I serve, but also in the experience my client has when placing an order with me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After I graduated from Johnson & Wales, I started working at The Salty Donut. I decorated donuts and helped with a lot of the prep that goes into running a donut shop where everything is made from scratch. I learned a lot about time management, efficiency and leadership during my time at Salty. During this time, I had taken my cake hobby to a small business where I was selling simple cakes to friends of friends and people I met on Instagram. After many days going home with donut glaze in my hair to then work on cakes for clients, I decided I wanted to further hone my talents in cake decorating.

I got a job as a cake decorator at Ms Bunnie Cakes, a vegan bakery that specializes in decorated cakes. And I got what I wished for! Before I knew it, I was decorating around 15-20 cakes on a slow day and upwards of 40 cakes on busy days. As my skills were growing, so was my clientele. I reached a point where I was consistently getting inquiries for custom cakes and desserts. My schedule was really tight trying to balance a full-time job, part time side hustle, and trying to maintain a social life.

I decided to take the plunge and quit my job, jumping full time into HaileyPancakes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love questions like these! Outside of making baked goods all day long, I am a total foodie. Here are some of my favorite spots.

Brunch: Alaska Coffee Roasting in North Miami or Lady Baker in Pembroke Pines
Lunch: Imperial Tea in South Miami or The Alchemist in Aventura
Dinner: Kin Asian Street Food in Pompano Beach or La Fresa Francesa in Hialeah
Coffee/Drinks: Cyth & Co in Ft Lauderdale or Gong Cha inPembroke Pines

One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is go to farmers markets, flea markets, and pop up events. Some of my favorite markets are Flamingo Flea in Ft Lauderdale, Magic City Flea in Wynwood, and Sunny Side Up Market in Ft Lauderdale.

Living in South Florida, you can never go wrong with a day at Hollywood beach boardwalk, bar hopping in Wynwood, or a chill day strolling Miracle Mile.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
HaileyPancakes would not be where it is today without the support of my family and friends. They have stood by me, spread my name, given me business, and at times even helped with the dishes! I would also like to shout out all the chefs I learned from at my time at Johnson & Wales. They all were very encourging and always made me feel like I had endless options in this industry.
