Hi Idika, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Over the years, I have dealt with many nail clients who were high risk or uneducated on how to care for their nails. In the past, I noticed many nail salons unfortunately offered common services such as Bling Enhancements, Basic Manicures, and Pedicures that did not focus on improving or maintaining the natural appearance of the nails. Instead, these services often made the nails worse due to the use of cheap products or improper application techniques. This brought more concern to the community and gave a bad name to the Nail Industry.

As a Professional Nail Specialist, I wanted something more unique for myself. I decided to step up my nail game and further educate myself to set myself apart from other nail salons. I began offering Innovative Nail Services on my menu to provide a more advanced approach to nail care in order to help those in need of maintaining or improving the health and appearance of their nails.

I introduced Repair and Strengthening Systems to assist those with damaged nails from improper enhancement applications. I also started offering Toenail Restoration Services to help those who had toenail injuries or had cleared up a toenail infection but were still experiencing abnormal toenail growth. I am able to create a beautiful cosmetic toenail, either partially or completely, so that my clients can feel confident and beautiful once again.

My business focuses not only on the external appearance of the nail plate, but also on what lies beneath the color in order to create not only beautiful nails, but healthy nails as well.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
TipToeNailz LLC is dedicated to transforming one nail bed at a time. We prioritize not only beauty but also the nail health of our clients. Our nail maintenance menu sets us apart from any other nail salon in my area due to the innovative services we offer that many may not be aware of but soon find they can’t live without. I am proud to be an Advanced Nail Specialist, providing nail maintenance services to my community at a higher level, although still below that of a medical degree. Throughout my 22 years of working with nails, I have learned that simply learning the basics at beauty school was not enough. As a beauty professional, I have faced challenges in surpassing state standards in order to make a difference in the Nail Industry, with a focus on the mission to eliminate nail infections.

I myself fell victim to nail fungus from a Nail Tech who did not properly use cleansing and disinfectant solutions to prevent infections. As a result, I had to invest a significant amount of money in educating myself on proper nail care maintenance with many distributors testing high quality products and interned with a Podiatrist to obtain certification of completion as a Advanced Nail Specialist. I also faced business failures due to the pandemic and lost clients while working as a mobile nail technician so had to build clientele again. However, these experiences have helped me grow and enabled me to provide awareness on proper nail care maintenance to prevent others from experiencing nail fungus like I did. I have now transitioned to offering nail services in one location, but still occasionally provide mobile services to my loyal clients in need of Nail Concierge services or to moms at home caring for her kids and can’t go out to get their nails done at a salon with her kids.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Fort Lauderdale, FL has many great places and finds to visit. Honestly, I am really a homebody person when not busy but I will check out the Las Olas Beach Strip, Hard Rock Cafe, Young Circle Hollywood restaurants, Thrift Shops, My church, Bakeries, the mall, and local museums. Farmers Markets events. Food trucks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to personally praise and thank my Savior, Jesus Christ, for never forsaking me and always lifting me up with His strength to keep pushing through the hardest moments in business. I also want to express my gratitude to my loyal clients for including me in their budget each month and for truly understanding the essential purpose of Nail Care. Additionally, I am thankful for my mom, daughter, friends, and family who have believed in my nail services and providing support to help build me up.
