We had the good fortune of connecting with Idler Bonhomme and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Idler, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process in starting a business was autonomy and providing a solution. In starting my physical therapy business, I saw a disparity between black-minority healthcare providers, therapists, and doctors. Therefore, to bridge the gap and contribute, it only made sense for me to be an owner and help inspire someone who may have been on the fence about starting their business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a physical therapist, or movement specialist, my profession helps the community to obtain their peak performance and enjoy their quality of life. I can help community members get back to their daily activities with movement, whether after an injury or surgery. While technology and medical advance enable people to live longer, we can take advantage of providing the service our clients need. To get to where I am professionally, risk and discipline played a major factor in my success, both in my personal life and professional growth. I have had to take some financial risks in my personal life to ensure the business’s development. I also had to defer immediate gratification. The most important factor behind my successes are faith, support from family and friends, having a plan, being consistent, and staying mobile. The brand’s success derives from developing a culture of service, caring, and delivering professional services. What I have learned and lived by is giving up is not an option. You have to recognize when to shift or rather change direction. Changing direction will depend on your passion for the task, project, or resources while considering the available opportunities.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I would love to give a big shoutout to my parents, Joseph Bonhomme and Caroline Etienne. Their work ethics, humility, continuous support, and belief in me continue to fuel my drive for success and growth.
