We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaclyn Aguilera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaclyn, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“People and the planet first and foremost.” I’m a very spiritual person and among the many positive affirmations and intentions I set daily this resounds the loudest in my mind. Particularly in the last year, this affirmation has been a sound board for me amid the pandemic and economic “shutdown.” This global shift gave me the opportunity to reflect, reassess my priorities and realign my goals with my core values and beliefs. I left NYC and my corporate job to be a part of an amazing beauty startup–Miami Beach Bum. Built on the principle of people and the planet, first and foremost, our collection is mindfully designed and formulated with green chemistry and a circular economy top of mind.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Unique to the beauty space, we prioritize microbiome science. We are founded by a local Miami-based marine scientist whose mission is to bring skin health to the forefront of self-care. We use minimal, purposeful plant-based ingredients formulated at the right pH level to restore the skin barrier and balance the microorganisms that makeup your skin. We are 100% female owned and operated, 100% made in the USA and give back 1% of our profits to @Operation_Liberation for local animal and human welfare initiatives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always like to start my day with a workout at Jet Set Pilates in Sunset Harbor. It’s my favorite workout because it gets the mind right and keeps the body tight 😉 After my workout I always pop over to say hey to my girls at Miami Beach Bum, snap my selfie in the gorgeous wave mirror and enjoy a cup of herbal tea.
The best part of being in Miami Beach is being surrounded by the beautiful water. I love boat cruising with friends, pulling up to the sand bar for a swim and watching the beautiful sunset on the harbor.
As an NYC transplant, I’m so happy Carbone has opened a location here. The table side Ceasar Salad and Spicy Rigatoni are my favs!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would dedicate this shoutout to the strong women who raised me. Without their unconditional love and support I would not be where I am today. I would also proudly credit my Miami Beach Bum team. As a small female owned and operated organization, their passion, and perseverance inspire me everyday!
