Meet Jas & Ty | Barber Owner/Lash Technician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jas & Ty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jas & Ty, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Ty: “ I look at taking risk as everyday life! Waking up walking out your door is taking a risk because you just never know what will happen after you open that door. We can’t be afraid to explore doors in life because you will never find out whats on the other side until you open it!

Risk taking has taught me life lessons as well as brought me big blessings. I took a leap and quit my job almost 7yrs ago to be a barber thinking to myself “man if I don’t gain the right amount of clientele I won’t be able to pay my bills” but I can honestly say I never missed a bill since I became a barber and it has been the best thing I’ve ever did for myself. I stayed consistent, hungry, determined and disciplined. 6 months after quitting my job I was booked and busy and also became a home owner.

Jas: Well, it took me a lil longer to view “Risk Taking” as Ty do! I’ve been more of a critical/ over thinker!!.. until more so recently I decided to quit my 10 year nursing job and start my Lash business.. I pretty much took “leaps of faith”.. not really knowing the outcome but hoping for the best!! My business has been growing in different ways for the past 5 years..

We are also known as the Traveling couple.. we have traveled country to country.. our next business adventure is to brand ourselves with becoming a travel agent for others!! Helping others explore the world with different cultures different food different environment etc.!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’ll for both of us, it took a lot patience and dedication.. it was definitely not easy.. staying focus and determine along with consistency are major key points to be successful in your business.. one thing Ty & I learnt was along the way was giving things TIME.. you have to give things time to grow.. just stay consistent with it and pour into your brand! Invest in your brand! Starting our businesses have allowed us to travel the world to see how different cultures operate with their success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of our close friends recently opened a lounge (Aura Lounge) which is definitely a nice place to hangout for drinks, music and a nice vibe!! Select lounge is also a good night vibe! Kitchencray is one of our favorite restaurants to eat brunch!! Their seafood grits are everything!! Also Moes which is like a restaurant lounge vibe with good food! For a lil outdoor activities, we may spend the day at National Harbor.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would first like to give thank to the man almighty!! He has showers us with blessings after blessings and we are truly thankful.. along with our family and friends who have been very supportive in our journeys..
