We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Kington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor for us has always been the Inter Miami Community, La Familia, and the fans. We started the Inter Miami Podcast as a community focused podcast, which has led to the success we have had. We try to be as engrained in the culture as possible, not just on game day, but staying involved with the different supporters groups, their events and charity drives, events the club has, traveling to games with supporters, and staying as active as we can in the community we have help grow. Our discord has hundreds of members now with new fans joining daily and is an epicenter for banter around the team and league every single day. Being easy accessible for listeners and fans has been am amazing thing and we attribute a large amount of our growth to our community focus.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart is the way we go about developing the show. We have always strived to provide a show that anyone can listen to regardless of you love and knowledge of the game. Whether you are a die-hard and have been following the sport your whole life, or if you are like many Americans, new to the sport and looking to learn and fall in love with it. We make everything as easy and digestible as possible with an end goal of helping the club grow the fan base, community, and national support for soccer/futbol.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends are in town and want to go out, we are either going to Las Olas, Wynwood, or Brickell. It’s hard to go wrong in any of those areas of South Florida. Sticking to the theme of the Inter Miami Podcast, we are usually recommending and bouncing around to different watch parties and after parties. Places like Fox and Hounds, Waxy O’Conors, Mickey Byrnes, Stout, Funky Buddha, and always ways ending up at Miscues to celebrate with Vice City and others to wrap up the night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I would like to give thanks to the Supporters Groups, the Inter Miami fans, and the club itself for allowing us to be ourselves and have fun with every episode. Without La Familia, the heartbeat and soul of the club, we would have probably not made it past 10 episodes. Here we are in our 3rd season, approaching 50k listeners, and we could not be more grateful.

Secondly, I would like to thank Alex Papageorge, who started this crazy adventure with me in 2019 as my co-host. Alex put a lot of time and energy into this podcast and it has been a blast to create and grow something with one of my best friends. I also want to thank Than Harrington, who joined our team last season and has made lasting impacts on the podcast and in the community, as well as Johnny Alpha, our newest team member who handles a good portion of our digital design and creative needs. Both Than and Johnny started as listeners, have remained incredibly active with the Podcast and have decided to join us on this ride, which just goes to show you how much we appreciate the support La Familia has given us.
