We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenni Schwartz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenni, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over time I’ve learned that work life balance has little do with the separation of of the two, and everything to do with finding what’s right for you. When I’m with my kids, I’m often thinking about work and when I’m working, I’m regularly thinking about my kids. And that’s totally OK!
As an entrepreneur I rarely get to shut off. You’re always “on” in some way, shape or form. My work is important to me, and inspiration comes from so many different places, so who’s to say I can’t come up with a logo concept while giving my children a bath? In my world, balance is achieved by creating a big, blended, joyful life of work, family, play and self-care. It’s answering emails before the sun rises followed by morning breakfast (and lots of coffee) with family, followed by iPads for the kids while I have a meeting with my business partner, who also happens to be my husband.
Our life is a modern day partner-dance choreographed by a shared, color-coded iCloud calendar and lots of communication, compromise and understanding. We block off hours and sometimes days to do whatever we may need to feel fulfilled and nourished beyond our roles as spouses, parents and professionals. Some days my home is in utter chaos, especially in Covid times. Other days I feel as if I can conquer the world. Our day-to-day juggling act is a constant work in progress that we may never come close to perfecting. But in the end, my personal balance is the acceptance that things aren’t always orderly and the realization that I love my life just the way it is. I’m happy, I’m grateful, and somehow I found time to shower today, which gives me just the balance I need.
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My creative studio specializes in branding, design and digital marketing specifically for the wellness industry. For example, if you were to open a boutique fitness studio, you’d hire us to create your visual identity (logo, colors, fonts, etc), voice, marketing materials, merchandise, website, etc. On an ongoing basis, you may hire us for SEO, drive marketing campaigns and manage your social media ads. A majority of our clientele had to close their doors with Covid. They had to pivot which forced us to also pivot in an exciting way. Since March, we’ve built more than 20 on-demand video platforms. I’m proud of how we quickly became experts, so much so that we became the platform’s #1 recommended agency for customization.
What sets us apart from others is my obsessive attention to detail and my husband’s gift of communicating and listening. We take careful time to understand our client’s wants, needs and value their feedback. We put content first and believe that design is obsolete if it’s not usable and relatable. We’re constantly learning about new technologies and trends. We always aim to exceed expectations. Most importantly, we do good work and never put out anything we think is less than amazing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here are my favorite things to do in Boca! I’m assuming it’s pre-covid/safe.
1. BEACH – We like Red Reef Beach or Boca Beach Club when we’re feeling fancy.
2. DELRAY BEACH CHILDREN’S GARDEN – I take my kids here often to explore and let out their inner flower child.
3. EAU SPA – Nothing like playing hooky with your girlfriends and having a spa day. This is our fav!
4. DRUM CIRCLES – I’m a hippie at heart and follow local drum circles wherever they may be.
5. WHALE’S RIB – Favorite seafood dive bar. It’s worth the wait.
6. SONS & DAUGHTERS FARM AND WINERY – Sit at a long picnic table with friends sipping on Hibiscus Fruit Wine or Kombucha and listen to good tunes. You feel like you’re anywhere but Florida.
7. FUNKY BISCUIT – Live music always & forever!
8. YOGA – There is such a great yoga community here. You really can’t go wrong with any of the local studios.
9. MIZNER PARK – See a concert, go shopping (Sugarboo is my favorite store), grab dinner, take a stroll and top if off with Sloanes for dessert.
10. BALI IMPORTERS – This store in Lake Worth is filled with all my favorite things and extremely low prices.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband joined me professionally in 2016. Before he came on board, I tried to wear too many hats and many of those hats were not taught in art school. At present day, he runs the business side of things (left brain) and I focus on the creative side (right brain). I attribute our success to our partnership, different strengths and complimenting skill sets. He pushes us to take risks, keeps projects on track and introduces new services to better our offerings. In general, he paves the way for my talents to shine.
