We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerome Nixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jerome, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factors behind my success and the success of my brand is Determination, Resilience and Grit. I believe these three factors will help overcome any obstacles a person may face down the road. That can mean in everday life experiences or in a business stand point.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve always been passionate about fitness since high-school. I was a student-athlete and it was imperative that I put fitness first in order to be the best at my sport of choice. Fitness wasn’t just a hobby. It was a lifestyle for as long as I could remember, after leaving high school, while in the midst of obtaining my degree, I recall having odd jobs that didn’t pay very well. I did not see growth in what I was doing at the time. One night while patrolling the perimeter at the Shore Club hotel on Miami Beach, as a security guard, I looked myself in the mirror and asked myself what am I doing?, I’m not happy, I need a change, and I want to elevate. Accepting the consequences of quitting my main job, such as no steady income, I decided to “take my talents to Nixon Training. “With months of low income and no clients initially, I was forced to budget everything from food to personal expenses. MASSIVE ACTION, I told myself in order to elevate in the fitness industry. From my humble beginnings of soliciting on Thumbtack, approaching people, giving out complimentary sessions, and really selling myself on social media. My brand, Nixon Training, catapulted into everything I imagined it to be. I took a leap of faith and it became MORE THAN FITNESS No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Budgeting my own money for equipment, not having enough clientele and having hard times training clients at commercial gyms were just some of my biggest challenges. From 5 am workouts to consistent nutrition and diet. Implementing a plan to put a stop to the struggles forced me to become the walking billboard that you see today. Using my own body and fitness as a marketing technique, led to people approaching me to ask if I was a trainer, which in turn helped me build clientele. The struggles I faced forced me to come up with a plan go mitigate the issues that would come up. These plans have turned into a successful system that works for Nixon Training in the best way. It has even allowed for my brand to pivot and transcends from fitness and into modeling. I’m thankful for every struggle because it has gotten me to where I am today. Lessons I’ve learned along the way is patience, consistency and creativity. Which helped me achieve my goals I’ve placed for myself along the way. I want the world to know it wasn’t easy to build, and I had to start off with a strong foundation to progress. Nixon Training isn’t just an average fitness business. We are very accommodating to our clients. We’re more about educating, motivating and understanding. Which makes us stand out more than the other great fitness industries out there. This is More Than Fitness

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My journey has been me picking up the tools as I go and being very observant to what people may like and dislike thats dealing with my craft. I want to give a shout to my wife and son because they give so much love and encouragement for me to keep pushing no matter how tough it may get in my profession.
