We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Marroquin-taveras and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance has changed over time. At the beginning, I wanted my dream of having my own Photography business so badly that I didn’t realize I was putting myself in an unhealthy state. After some reflecting, I was able to balance my work life better by creating a list of priorities, that will always need to come first, then I created my schedule versus my ideal schedule, and finally, with comparing those three items, I found the best way to make sure my health, family life, and everything I wanted to prioritize always came first but also found more than enough time to build my business and brand and to make sure I was still giving it my all.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It was definitely not a easy path and had many challenges on the way. The lessons I have learned that its important to make sure you stay true to yourself and your brand. By staying true to myself, I have been able to bring out my most authentic self to everyone I interact with and its helped me grow tremendously. Also, being able to understand when to make the difficult decisions and setting those boundaries is huge, and finally understanding that we are all imperfect and in order to get better throughout my creative journey, I have to hone my skills and continue learning to perfect my craft every day.

I am most proud and excited to say that I have been able to expand my coverage area from offering my photography services to not only Miami, Broward, and Palm beach but now to Tampa, Sarasota, and additional surrounding areas in Central Florida.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a huge fan to sightseeing and also a huge History fanatic and being able to find all the beautiful gems. I definitely say must see spots in Miami and South East Florida would be Matheson Hammock park and beach, Bill Baggs State park, and even the Henry Flagler Museum in Palm beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The ones who I will forever thank for the way I have been able to reach my dreams and goals are definitely my family and friends.

My husband has been my number one supporter throughout this entire journey. When times got rough, he was right by my side and thinking of ways to continue my journey with my business.

My parents and sisters have helped me by lending their support, a helping hand, and even advice.

My children have helped me throughout my journey because they are the ones that drive my goals and inspirations.

My Mentor; Paula with Luz photography. Has lend huge support to me by being my mentor and helping me understand the industry, perfecting business strategies, and even with advice on how to perfect my craft.

Lastly, my friends; I have had endless support from friends by giving me the chance to be able to showcase my work, and even recommending me to family and friends.
