We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessyca Canal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessyca, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor for me is my motto of “swim or swim”. When I dive into something I do not think of failing but only succeeding. When I opened up my first business at 20 years old, I also moved to a different country and made it happen only partially knowing the language. By the time I opened up EBJ Events I knew it was a risk but one I would not fail at because of my mentality. It is not an easy mentality to have but when you give yourself no other choice then you can see how much you can accomplish. My podcast , B3 – Boss, Babies & Bottles, is all about empowering entrepreneurs to take risks, learn from my mistakes while also listening to stories about my event planning business & my twins!

What should our readers know about your business?
My current business is wedding & event planning. My background is actually marketing and economics and I started out working in sales and managing for a marketing corporation so nothing to do with wedding planning. However, I was able to mesh my background in business with my passion and creative side and now I get to help people create memories that last a lifetime. I started my business 7 years ago and we are now one of the top Wedding & Event Professionals in South Florida. I got to where I am with hard work, nothing comes free or easy. I worked long hours, long events where I barely made anything to get to where I am. What sets my team and I apart is really out attention to detail in every aspect. From the planning to the day-of our clients do not worry about a thing!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ha! Great question I can list somethings below. If they have never been to Miami then you need to see Miami Beach at least once and explore that area but I would also make sure they see Wynwood/Midtown, Brickell and one of my personal favorites the Florida Keys. I would make sure they ate at the best places like Wynwood Kitchen & Bar and KYU as well as check out our night life, lounges, bars and clubs. Everyone needs to check out LIV at least once in their life too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family of course, God and my husband!
