We had the good fortune of connecting with Jheanelle Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jheanelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In starting my own business, I wanted it to be something that I was passionate about. I’ve been in the medical field for over ten years treating patients with cancer, so I wanted to switch it up a bit and help people with more preventative measures. When I ventured to figure out what that would be, I came upon IV Hydration and was literally consumed with all the information in this specialty.
Sure, I have clients that call me for hydration after a long night on the town, but I also have a lot of clients that I work with on an ongoing basis that are well aware of all of the benefits of IV hydration such as improving energy, mental health, immunity, dehydration and so much more.

While working with clients after their long night on the town, I’m also able to educate them on the preventive benefits gained through IV hydration.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I pushed through this initial lesson in failure and went on to achieve not just my Bachelors in Nursing but I also achieved a Masters in Nursing Administration & Financial Leadership and a second Masters in Family Nurse Practitioner from Florida Atlantic University .

I’ve been in the field of nursing for almost 15 years now, all within the Oncology field, and it has definitely come with its fair share of bumps and bruises.
After failing my first test in nursing school (and I’m sure I can get an AMEN from all the nurses out there that have failed a test early on in school), I remember thinking that there is no way that I could do this. Before this point I was always used to breezing through classes but nursing school was a brand new endeavor for me so I had to learn the hard way that I needed to approach my studies with a different type of intensity. I pushed through this initial lesson in failure and went on to achieve not just my Bachelors in Nursing but I also achieved a Masters in Nursing Administration & Financial Leadership from and a second Masters in Family Nurse Practitioner.

My first nursing job was within Pediatric Oncology and after experiencing the unfortunate first patient not making it, was another emotional shock and learning opportunity. My compassion for my patients, clients and coworkers separates me from others. I commonly have to educate patients and or their family on treatment plans, that may be extremely difficult for them to wrap their heads around. I’ve always remained extremely patient and never rushed through these very difficult conversations since I understand that a patient’s mental state has a lot to do with their ability to fight through physical ailments. If I’m able to ease their mind, that could have a lot to do with their ability to fight through their illness.

Additionally, I love and enjoy mentoring new nurses. It really affords me the opportunity to give back to the new generation of nurses and help provide a sound foundation for those entering the field.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
After picking my friend up from the airport we would head straight to downtown Ft Lauderdale for happy hour drinks at the Rooftop at 1WLO. After drinks we would stroll down Las Olas for dinner at Bombay Darbar, butter chicken is a must! To prove to my friend that gators are not to be trifled with, the next day we would rise early for an airboat ride at Everglades Safari Park. After that we would ride down to Wynwood to tour the walls, a bite to eat at Butcher Shop and dessert at The Salty Donut. The next day would be a beach day, Dania Beach close to the pier. After the beach, and to give my friend an authentic taste of my Jamaican heritage, we would absolutely have to stop by Taste Rite Bakery for some of their mouth watering ackee & saltfish patties and Dutch Pot restaurant for some oxtail with rice and peas! To allow my friend to experience a different side of Florida, we would sneak away to Florida’s west coast and chill for a couple days in Ft Myers. On the agenda there would be some shopping at Miramar outlets, another beach day on Ft Myers beach and dining at Skip One Seafood and Watermark Grille. I’d ensure to cross back over the state for one final day before my friend has to fly back home and on this day we would visit the Hard Rock Hotel and dinner at mine and Chad Ochocinco’s favorite Cuban restaurant Havana’s in Cooper City.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shout out would go to my wonderful and supportive husband. He’s my rock and my best friend. We have a very special relationship where we’ve been able to figure out each other’s strengths and weaknesses and cover off for one another. My husband is a risk taker, in fact one of the images from his social media page that attracted me to him way back in the day was one of him skydiving, and without him I would probably not have the guts to start my own business. I’ve learned to be careful with what I put out there because no matter how outrageous my ideas area, he will push, even if it means pushing me, to make it happen.
