We had the good fortune of connecting with John Ryan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We wanted to create Keep Flying as a way to continue our musical journey but with a twist. I think it was important for us to continue to make art but do it the way we had always wanted to.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well we are a punk band with horns! Definitely the horns help us stand out but also our live show. We are super chaotic and energetic and love to have a good time. Love putting a smile on peoples faces and making them laugh. Im personally most proud of how much we have accomplished with no real team behind us. We do it all on our own and thats impressive. Its taken a lot of years in previous bands to figure out what is the best way to do things and how to excel at what we do. A lot of trial and error. I think by actively pushing ourselves more and more we were able to figure out how to make this really stick out. Definitely have learned what we want to do versus what we dont which is massive in and of itself. I just want the world to know that life should be fun, people should enjoy it while they can, and create exactly what they want to create.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them straight to Montauk. Its my favorite place in the world. We would hit the beach town, Walk the lighthouse, take a boat out, hit some of the night life, and most importantly lay out on the beach/swim in the ocean. We can eat at Jonis or Sobol. Maybe grab some food at the natural market. personally, im a beach rat. give me the salt. give me the sand. give me the sun. I want to roast.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. We would love to shout out all of the members of KF who have put in the time and work and moved on. They have allowed us to continue a journey and helped pave the way. Also to everyone who has filled in for us.
