We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonah Bliss and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonah, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up in Los Angeles, and I think the city’s diversity (in terms of both people but also its wide range of places – dense city, tall mountains, desert, beach, etc) and its general open mindedness / creativity had a profound impact on me. It kind of spoils you in a way, making it hard to enjoy places that aren’t quite as complex.
What should our readers know about your business?
Working at CoMotion, I’m incredibly excited to bring what we do to Miami. There’s so much happening in the world of transportation, mobility, and startups, and the Magic City has really started to emerge as a cluster for this industry. We’re excited to not only bring the world to Miami, but Miami to the world!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think what makes any city interesting is its local flavor, and not its glossy or glitzy magazine cover side of things. So I’d rather spend time walking around Calle Ocho than Lincoln Road. Or take an exploratory spin on the Metrorail, as opposed to sitting in traffic in a fancy car… Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give credit to my mother, who for years ran a literacy-focused nonprofit, Ready Set Read. Her commitment to public service is admirable, and I’d like to think the time I spent volunteering / helping out as a kid helped imprint some of those same ideals into me.
