We had the good fortune of connecting with Joy Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I view risk as opportunities for growth, staying in your comfort zone can only get you so far and in some cases it’ll hold you back. Taking risk has allowed me to become a career firefighter at 22 years old and a vegan chef/business owner at the same time.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In 2018 I embarked on a plant based journey that then turned into a passion for plant based cuisine and ultimately Fine Fine Lemon Lime Inc. I am a proud self taught vegan chef who doesn’t conform to any style besides deliciousness! Cooking has become a passion of mine, that part is easy. The main challenge that I’ve had to overcome is getting out of my own way. If you allow it, you’ll talk yourself out of things. Be confident, be sure, know that you’re incredible and can do ANYTHING!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Eat- Dub N’ Grub by Chef Kofi @mekmuv_chefmuv, Love life cafe, Plant, SoBe Vegan, Rabbit Hole Drink- Sugarcane bar, Tap 42, Gramps Hang out- Fort Lauderdale, Wynwood, Brickell. Comedy in Brickell at Red bar.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It definitely takes a village!! The support and encouragement that I’ve received from these individuals has been so important each step of the way. I’d like to shout out my mother Kathy, my siblings Ryan & Jasmine, my girlfriend Lisa, my mother in law Evonya, my sisters in law Nia & Aahkilah, my best friend Marques Hunter CEO of B.I.T.E Inc, and of course the GET FINE GANG!!
