We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Cano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Having grown up with two immigrant parents I saw how much they struggled. My father was research & development chemist for some big companies and I saw how much he suffered. How much they took and how little they gave. He always told me never work for anyone and although as a kid you really don’t pay it any mind it was always there in the back of my mind. When we started we went into this thinking that this was our future. We started making products for other companies and growing slowly but surely but as in any business success breeds envy. Some of those same companies that helped us grow would be the ones that would try to keep us down, but we didnt let that deter us. Creating our brand was always in the back of our minds and when we started our brand our goal was to give people their moneys worth. Not everyone earns 20 dollars an hour and so we felt like if they spent their money on our products we didn’t want to disappoint. We didn’t want to take peoples time and hard earned money on something that wasn’t a quality product. Time is the one thing people never get back and that money they traded for it had to be worth it. We have worked with so many companies that only care about the bottom line, we care about people and making a difference.

What should our readers know about your business?
We started NaturOils USA in 2015 with absolutely no idea on what to do next. We saw how bad the quality of products some of our clients were asking us to make. Their only focus was the bottom line how could they make more money with less investment. This was what we didn’t want to do. We wanted to be able to create high quality products backed by science and research but also make it accessible to everyone. It hasn’t been easy at all. Along the way we found so many people that would feed us these beautiful lies on how they could make our business grow. Lost a lot of money that way but we slowly learned what to look for in both individuals that lacked integrity and were just in this to make a quick buck. I learned that not every company cares about your individual success I learned that always giving more isn’t a bad thing and that is why we do it not just for our brand but for those brands who’s products we make. If there is one thing I would like NaturOils USA to be known for is that we will always give you more. We will continue to improve not only our quality but our service because we never want to feel like we stole your time/money because you worked hard for that money and buying our products is like giving us a part of yourselves.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
South Florida is about the beautiful weather and the fun in the sun activities. Miami especially is full of fun things to do. A trip to coconut grove taking the scenic route up (Old cutler road). Grab a bite to eat a local spot like Lokal. Visit the beach in Key Biscayne and later take them paddle boarding, ending the Night at Cebada Rooftop in Coral Gables. Take a day trip to the Florida Keys and stop at Isla Morada SeaFood Company to catch a beautiful sunset and snack on some amazing gator bites. The Miami nightlife is also a must with so many great Breweries like VezaSur and Jay Wakefield brewery just to name two. There are honestly so many great breweries in Miami It would be an entire page just for that. Since My best friends are from Miami they know we must have croquettas and cuban food since they most likely haven’t had it in years. Take them to a few local bars like Bougainvillea or Las Rosas with local bands playing on weekends and weekdays. End the trip grabbing a bite at one of my favorite spots Whisk in South Miami. Miami has also grown a lot over the years and they’d be amazed just looking how much the city has grown both outwards and upwards.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For me it has to be my parents. Two of the hardest working individuals I have ever met. They made no excuses in life. They worked hard to give my and my sisters the life they never had. Mom worked several Jobs during the week and ran her home based catering business on the weekends. My Father worked as a R&D Chemist with companies like Pfizer, SmithKlein and so Many others. The one thing they instilled in me was honesty and integrity in life and work. Give more than expected and never ask for more than you need. I never once saw them ask for help and they worked so hard to make sure we never lacked in anything. The never give up attitude they possessed was one we most certainly inherited, the way they persevered even when everything was stacked against them showed us we can get through anything in life. Funny how it took this interview to show me how much I took that for granted but how much I learned from them. They are definitely that people who provided not only encouragement but also inspired me to believe in myself and that I was born for more than just working for someone else.
